Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
Had the body work and paint done, please remember in the 80's this was the way we wanted our trucks to look. We assembled this truck in 24 hrs. straight ( 7 of us got together ) total frame off reassembled. We put it in Montreal's International Car Show 1990 and took home some prizes. It has sat since then. Last licence plate was 1987 this year is the first plate since then.
Most of the forementioned accessories are correct for 1963. Most are N.O.S. This was done 20 years ago when these truck were unpopular so the prices for these parts were cheaper. I have the 1963 Custom Features Accessory Book, The 63 Accessories Installation Manual, Parts Book Light Duty and Heavy Duty. 63 Salesman's Truck Data Book,Some 63 Chevy Communication Training Kits ( slides with records and pamphlets. 63 Advertisements, 63 Shop Manual, 63 Chevrolet Silver Book ( this contains where you could order crew cabs from, dump bodies, utility boxes, etc. 63 Specifications Book, 63 Frame Blueprint Book, and other stuff,as you can tell I like my 63.

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
I can't get over that hood bird, I have always been a HUGE sucker for those things. As long as I can remember I always wanted a car with a nice hood bird but I always had to settle for something reliable :-P so Please tell me that was an option in 64 as well?? I know I sound crazy saying this but I want one! Many thanks for all the info Aero!

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
Just so us GMC guys won't fel left out here is the 60-61 GMC bird. This also was sold for the 60-61 Chevy hood, but it was only listed in the GMC accessory catalog. Notice the slightly different "Wing Intake" vents. and the Exhaust.

The bed railing was a fluke call to a guy who was listed in a Hemmings Almanac of dealers in old parts. He asked me what I was looking for and off the top of my head I said "Bed Rails". "I've had them for years and I'll sell them to you for the same price I bought them for. " he said and the deal was made. That very week I was at a swap meet in Cloverdale British Columbia and lo and behold there's another set on the ground. Guy was asking $85.00 at the time I offered $45.00 he took it, had them rechromed and installed them on my matching trailer. ( Haven't shown pictures of the trailer yet. It's like the box on my 63 ) He had taken them off a 58 El Camino. so they go back a few years. I found another set on Ebay but for the life of me I can't find them. There in a box somewhere. The Ebay find claimed they had come from a Ford Ranchero. Found just the posts and bullet ends on Ebay $9.99 for all he had . I bid and told him what they were for . He sent me one post and Bullet End Cap then relisted the rest of the set and sold them for $ 100.00. I'm going to make a toilet paper holder out of the one post and bullet to remind me to keep my BIG MOUTH SHUT next time.

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
I also have a set of the Fleetside Step Inserts, but they were not offered until the 67 and later years, at least as supported by all brochures and pictures from the era.
ON THE Compass. I have an OEM compass and always wondererd were it was suppose to mount, I though it was to mount under the mirror. I will have make the final braket, I have the "U" shaped part but I think there is another piece the connects to one of the screws for the mirrow bracket. Let me know if I'm correct. I too am a acessory freak, the OEM factory options I have for my truck are too many to list, will try tomm. But I will use everything I have that is correct for the 1960-1961 model year.

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
when i found this forum, i knew i found some like minded, more is better over kill kinda people.... lol!!! thanx for the props... i have more pics some are older. the first 2 i posted are how it sits today, waiting for the body man (a friend and he is swamped bad)
these new pics are of the fire wall. i moved the motor back like 5 or 6 inchs (from where the frontend kit said to put it) #1 sparkplug is on the balljoint centerline. it required a little bit of custom tin work to smooth it back in (for you guys with real good eyes, yes that is a wheelbarrow in the firewall. true temper i think... wait, wait.... i made it with a shot bag and hammer and a english wheel (thats what i tell my friends w/choppers), no its a wheelbarrow. lol!! 14 bucks can't go wrong!! as everyone here knows the boxside wheel openings are tiny. big tires suck to change without a hoist and unpinning the coilovers. i don't have a hoist, so a friend (pictured) and i came up with a solution. the box hinges up on two 3/4" hiem joints on the cage (it will stand up vertical against the back of the cab) |

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
Thats a cool trick on the flip bed, hate the get it jacked up on stands and pull the coilovers ,then let the rear down so you can get the tires off drill
