Re: LFD's low buck truck build!
Yeh so it might come in at about 7k but that is still a good price concidering what extras have been added. Their is alot on this truck that could be eliminated and still have a great Clean DD. Vintage Air $1000, Tail lights and side markers $450-$700? heck already back down to $5300

If Kevin is like me when I get off track, he might have to change the name to "Mo' Bucks", .

Re: LFD's low buck truck build!
So today I got 3hrs in and it is looking like a pile of parts again! Found rust in the A pillar bottom area's and only one spot on the cab back under the window. All in all not bad for what it could have been. Here are a few pics for the file!

Re: LFD's low buck truck build!
I forgot how many nooks and cranies their are on these cabs but I am almost done with this step. Next I will scuff down the inside and do a bit more DA work on the back and jambs. I hope to start cutting out the rust today and have the cab ready for paint by next weekend. This was about 3hrs work so far today.

Re: LFD's low buck truck build!
Well another 5 1/2hrs to tack on to the build. I filled the gas tank filler hole (sand bag and forming hammer) rust hole on back window and one small hole on pass cab corner. I also welded up the trim holes and the holes drilled to pull dents in its past life. I then shot DP90 epoxy over all bare metal areas including inside and out of the front and rear windows.
I then stripped both doors (glass, regulators and seals) and DA the outside of them completely. Sunday I will get the other front fender srtipped, fill all holes in fenders and doors (42 holes in one of the doors!) and shoot them with DP90 as well if I have enough time. I did a few "Light Mods" today to match my bed that I did months ago. I don't even think any one noticed the bed "Light Mods" untill the post after this one I have wanted to do this mod for years so when I chopped the bed down I went ahead and started my idea. Here we are 5-6 months later and I get to do the front. It went well and I got both fenders done today as well as filling in all the holes in both fenders and both doors. I had 45 darn hole in one door alone. It's a good thing these doors are rust free or they would have been scrap!!!! Here are a few pics to keep you all going! Kevin LFD inc. |

Re: LFD's low buck truck build!
Got them in DP90 tonight so I can start teh body work in a day or so. First I want to replace the rockers and "A" post bottoms as soon as I get my parts from ECE. They should be here when I get home Monday if those guys are on the Ball like always! Incase anyone wants to know why I only DP'd the out side it is because the inside was the original paint. It was still in great shape so I am just going to scuff it down and paint right over it. The out side was another story! I had to take them down to bare metal to fill holes and to get rid of those other layers of paint so just the out side got the treatment. Oh and today I spent a good 9hrs on prep and mods!

Re: LFD's low buck truck build!
Got any pics of the back side of the front fenders? Is it all nice and smooth? I have always wondered what the looked like on the back side after shaving the lights, or in this case moving them.

Re: LFD's low buck truck build!
Went by the paint store before comming home sick for a few days. I guess it is not a smart move to work in the shop in 45* temps when you have 103 temp your self
Well the body shop is open! Here is part of the stash for the paint job and the main body color. The roof will be bright white like John F's. I think it will also get the lower trim now since I have it and it will look better with the light mod I did (It will be a How-To article) and not the lowering one Dropped $525 on 2 gal of blue, 2 qts of white and 1 qt of black for the top of the dash and inner fenders. Plus all the hardener and reducers. Kevin LFD inc. 166hrs main build $5500.00 main build 25 Paint hrs $555.00 Paint |
