Been there, done that. I finally got sick of the "might as wells" and sent it off to paint. Gotta draw the line somewhere. I drew it at 'This costs way more than buying a new truck' I also used the excuse "there's always next time!". You might need to apply that one some. haha! Nah, I love it that you are going above and beyond. Keep up the great work!

Thanks! Been slow going the last week as I've been helping my brother in law with a flooded basement, working on big projects at work, and starting to fix/remodel my brother in law's basement now. I have bought and sold some parts and have a new updated final list of plans for the truck.

Re: 1970 VA Longbed Project

Finally caught up with your build. I like how you shaved the drip rails leaving the lip on the front. I'm working on a 1970 suburban, I wonder how that would look. Just lots more drip rail to shave.

Only for looks. I am only lowering where it will slightly tuck the tires. Stock inner fenders and bedfloor so it will only go so low...I just like the clean look of the shaved pinch weld

Welcome to the build. I am happy with the drip rail shaved that way. Like how it still keeps that area in front of the truck in line with the top of the windows vs when you completely shave it to me it shows that the windshield is not in line with the windows. Both ways are nice and the way we're doing it is actually easier but I really like the look better even if it was the harder way to do it.

Thanks, welcome to the board and I am excited to have it done. It's going to be a sweet longbed and I've noticed at shows that longbeds are coming up in popularity.

Re: 1970 VA Longbed Project

You'll notice the line around the top. Going to "borrow" Rokcrln's angled cap idea. Not doing the wall the same obviously and smoothed the top hump out of it. Plus, I actually saw that angled cap idea before and Nuke did an angled cap on his firewall. (Do I sound like I'm rationalizing stealing ideas? )

The firewall will be completely smooth with only the steering column coming through. Using an eliminator style accellerator pedal, brake pedal/booster mounted to the framerails, aftermarket wiring harness hidden and moved w/ no bulkhead, A/C lines run through the cowl area, and all other misc holes filled in for a very smooth look.

Hope he don't mind me stealing it too. I'm looking for some sheetmetal like you are using on your cab. Do you know what gauge it is? or if you know how thick it is?i.e. .03"? Your firewall looks SMOOTH! keep it up!
