Re: 55 2nd serie GMC
damn dude, this truck is going to be SWEET when she's all put back together. Hell, I'd be strapping my ass to a milk crate and going for a boot in it as it sits!! Nice job, really nice job on it. Oh and nice shop!! plenty of room to work on everything by the looks of it. I assume that's the 55 Belair you'll be taking to the 50's show? Damn sweet car!!

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC
Well tonight we got an other windshield in, still have to fine tune the rubber seal at the top of the windshield after a few hours in the sun, she's still a little tight in there.

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC
Also got the steering column in and the tranny shifter cable. Had to make a new mounting bracket; with the new billet firewall mount i couldn't use the bracket ( the black one) that came with the cable no room for it. The one i made fits between the firewall and the lower steering column mount.
Its funny that even though you muck up every thing 2 or 3 time when its time to final assembly it still need more fine tuning and adjustment.

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC
More assembly the last few days, since the battery box is under the floor not really accessible specialty if i need to boost it, i install a booster connector along the frame on pass side below the inner fender will be accessible thru the wheel opening. The tranny dip stick and gas pedal are install too. Next step is to mount the CPU in the cab and get that engine to fire up again.

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC
Looking good. I can't wait to get rolling on my 55. Great choice of colors, those are the 2 I was going with except I was going with the 2010 camaro green on top and Silver on the lower half. I was skeptical about the colors but looking at yours I can't wait. I am hoping to start my thread shortly.
What kind of steering column did you use? |

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC
Looking great! I can see in the last pic that you have a repo trans floor cover? How does it fit? I purchased one from Classic Parts & it fits like cr#p especially at the front towards the firewall.

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC
the same here it doesn't fit well at the front, will use a thick faom seal at the front and that should be ok.

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC
A little more progress the last few evening, m/cyl is in place, computer is also mounted under pass seat. Should have all the brake lines in tomorrow. Assembly is a little slow i'm still fine tuning the final steps, its seams like i'm still changing or making a new bracket for stuff that was already mucked up.

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC
Thanks, I can't remember for sure was the seat bases are out off, its been many years since I made those. I remember they were chevys probably van. I lowered and narrow them to fit the ford seat I'm using. The jumper box is from a Chevy Silverado its mounted on the from of the left cylinder head.

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC
Well reassembly is going a little slower then i would like it to be. Got to be so careful with the new paint. Installed some of the underdash stuff last weekend, got all the brake lines plumed, bled the brakes and found a leaky rear caliper, i guess thats what happens when things sit too long. Been doing final assembly on the box, all new stainless fasteners. Battery box is mounted little tight but works.
