Just some ideas I hope you consider. I was expecting way more "bolt-in" than this has become. I "expected" to deal with a filler in the bed side but not the rail. Beautiful tank, just wish I was using it.

brian, what is the year and make of your chassis? I thought that you had requested another piece of pipe to fix the filler that we shipped recently. I have not had anyone else come to me with this issue on the side fillers so i am hesitant to revise the design. I will do the repairs to the tank if you want me to.

Nope, never asked for or received a new piece of filler tube to get this fixed.

My truck is a 68 C10 LWB 2WD. Maybe the more direct way to look at this is, what dimension for side fill above the tank mounts do you make the neck stand up? Please note I included measurements in my post so you could compare the tank I got with the way you are currently building them. Also note in your post 409 (last pic) the side fill neck stands up noticeably higher than mine. Is there a chance that mine was simply done wrong? Were the mounting brackets placed too high, the filler tube cut too short?

I spent $100 to get this fixed Friday. If you want to do something to make that right, LMK. Would make me feel better about the whole deal.

I was up half the night lastnight trying to understand why you are having problems with your tank and noone else is. I studied the dimensions that you supplied and the mounting tabs are in the correct position (3" down from the top of the tank) however your 2" filler pipe is only 2.5" up from the top of the tank and it should have been 3".

I am glad that you were able to get it fixed either way. Email me your name and mailing address and I will pay for your repairs.

Dave, I believe that was me that ordered the extra filler tube to make my filler taller. And I apologize for not getting those pics and measurements to you. I was called back to work right after getting back from vacation and haven't got my bed pulled and tank mounted. I did cut and rebuild the filler to be taller though. Just wish I had the time to get it installed. As soon as I can, will get those pics. Jim. Thanks for the quick shipping of the filler tube as well. Great tank, great support and customer service. On the EFI tanks the you can here the pump whine maybe insulate or something...... I have heard several and they are all same.......

All the pics I see in this thread have the tank rigidly bolted to each frame rail. What if I decide to take a fast turn or if I jack one corner of the rear up to change a tire(or any other reason) and the frame flexes. With the tank rigidly attached, it would have to withstand these forces. Did anybody mount this thing with straps or rubber bushings etc. to isolate the tank from the frame flexing?

Another issue not addressed with this tank is galvanic corrosion where the steel frame contacts the aluminum flange. I plan to spray a coat or two of that rubberizer paint on the frame and on the flange to eliminate the chance of the flange pitting out. Still no responses to my last post about mounting the tank rigidly.

this is pulled from our website's standard installation instructions.

- TANK MUST BE MOUNTED WITH A RUBBER INSULATOR OF A MINIMUM THICKNESS OF 1/8″ BETWEEN MOUNTING SURFACES TO PREVENT WEAR TO THE TANK STRUCTURE

Doing this will keep your warranty valid and solve any concerns of corrosion.

http://www.boydwelding.com/about Midway down the page. These are not really installation instructions but requirements to keep your warranty valid. we expect all customers to use common sense while installing these tanks and to keep them safe and secure as best as possible.

to address your concern on rigid mounting the tank.. I have alot of customers that do rigidly mount the tank to the chassis without any issues. If your tank cracks and you have the rubber insulator in between the frame and mounting angle that would be considered a warranty issue That we will take care of. If you would like to do more, i would suggest using a Rubber bushing backed by washers to absorb any flex you may experience.

A couple things. First mine is EFI and the pump seems to be quiet enough for me. I had an external before that was much louder.
Secondly, the above height thing. I had to remove my rear cross support and slide my tank from the rear to sit the mounting "wings" on my frame. If I mounted it to the bottom I would have had the interference also. By placing it inside the frame it clears the top jsut barely. I would agree it would not hurt for it to be a little taller. I am waiting for my computer retune but have driven it some this tank looks and works super.

You mention "instructions" I honestly cant remember if I got any or not. if not I would suggest including this with these "must do" items like the rubber pad and the fittings.

A bigger more gph EFI pump would be a nice option this was not available when I purchased so I have the 255.
