Re: Used Parts Build
That exhaust wouldn't work so good here in PA. They changed the law last year so our exhaust has to exit behind the rear wheels... even on a truck. It used to have to exit behind the passenger compartment. I have to extend the exhaust on both of my trucks.

Re: Used Parts Build
I doubt this is legal but there isn't any inspection for 75 and back.

Re: Used Parts Build
While looking at my old welds on this exhaust I wasn't really happy with them. I spent some time playing with a few scrap pieces using different cups, settings, and filler rod diameters. I think it was worth the time spent.
Vbands so I can remove the muffler if needed. Everything back purged of course I might go back and redo some of my uglier welds. Then I stripped down the inside of my tailgate so I can get some primer on it before it rusted. Its a bit to beat up for me to try to fix all the dents. I'll figure something out later.

Re: Used Parts Build
Do you have a source for this? I'm looking to get my exhaust redone soon and this is the first time I've heard of this rule. Did a quick google search and couldn't find anything.

Re: Used Parts Build
I no longer live in PA, but I heard that from someone else when I was home a few months ago (Pittsburgh area), BUT it may not be a statewide thing and just a local/county thing. Anything I find on-line is 2016 era and it is still legal as long as it is within the sound dB range. Check with a local inspection station, as they should have the latest

Re: Used Parts Build
Just my inspection guy.... who is pretty lenient. I know other people that have said the same that go to other inspection guys.

Re: Used Parts Build
Just a tip for everyone. You can get silicone plugs from amazon for a few bucks compared to hundreds for a proper back purge set up.
Got my waste gate all welded in. Started filing a bunch of holes and sprayed a little bit of primer over the bare spots

Re: Used Parts Build
Thanks Joe.
I guess this whole stay at home thing has some perks. I wanted to stop all the dirt and leaves that get into the cowl so I cut some filler pieces. I didn't want to weld them in so I made them removable and used the mount holes from the original screen that it came with. Done Finally started on the massive whole I cut in my floors...This has been a bit of a mental block for me since there was so much to do. I dove in yesterday and made some progress. I am going to try to get a lot of it done during the shelter in place thing. Sadly (or luckily) I am an essential worker and have to work through this whole time :/

Re: Used Parts Build
Shaping large pieces has been a bit too hard to manage. I am breaking it up and doing it in chunks. Not what I wanted to do but progress none the less.
Next piece Started making the top piece to fit up against the fire wall. This one has been a pain to fit. Its a pain climbing in and out up under the dash.

Re: Used Parts Build
Little by little
One more welded in The last piece on the passenger side is going to be rough. There are a lot of angles and not sure how I plan to tackle it yet. I have half of the driver's side done. Might do that for a bit while I think through the more complex piece.

Re: Used Parts Build
After way too much time and effort I got the driver side done.
Time to finish the passenger side before I climb underneath and check to see if I missed anything. Then grind everything smooth (since why not?) before paint and on to the next thing on my never ending list.

Got the passenger side done this weekend. Here are some pics.

Re: Used Parts Build
Got all the final welding done and most of the welds cleaned up then started scuffing and wiping it all down
Then painted the inside. The lighting really messed with the pic though. Pulled the engine and started prepping the underside. Got some paint on there. Need another coat then Ill move on to cleaning up and painting the firewall.

Re: Used Parts Build
Thanks everyone. I have been chipping away at it with all my extra time since there is nothing going on around here.
Painted my firewall Brakes Started reassembling stuff Ran out of paint so I started running my brake lines. Here is a practice flare Hoping my brake lines don't look like crap when I am all done...

Re: Used Parts Build
No exciting photos but got a fair amount of work done. Ran my brake lines.
Then tore the front end apart so I can grind off all the POR15 that I originally painted with and do it properly. Gotta do something with the ugly front of the frame I messed up on years ago. Still playing with some ideas.
