Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Finally started cleaning the donor crossmember.
Sanded and painted upper and lower control arms. Replaced all ball joints uppers and lower. RENT THE BALL JOINT PRESS, IT WILL MAKE LIFE EASY. I had both ball joints out in 5 min. no joke. I did use an impact driver tho it took me longer to grind off the rivets in one arm.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Nature hasn't been cooperating lately, we haven't had any sun for days. Just rain - and more rain with a high temperature of 55! I kept it in a closed bedroom set at 80 degrees, but it cools off quickly. The cab of the truck is currently sitting at 90 degrees and it's only marginally more flexible. I don't think my little heater will get it much warmer than that.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Got my front bumper put back on after painting it white and got my tires mounted and balanced on my new (to me) chrome 15x7 American Racing wheels. Finally got rid of those 15x11's that the PO had painted black.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
All work has ceased here for a while. Suffered a mild heart attack on Tuesday morning, so basically confined to home until further testing is done and I can get the thumbs up from Doc to resume.
So...with that said I will be a more constant fixture here, drooling over all you other guys' progress, but I will be back to work soon!. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
After reading the post on Rustoleum Blue, I went and bought a can as well as 4 other colors in the Rustoleum 2x line. I did some test spots on my truck to figure out what I want to do....will try to post pics later, I wouldn't mind some outside input on a color..

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
picked up this 66 custom cab today. 1 not bad r/f fender and a p/s pump and brkt 283. this cab even has the green tinted back window still in all n/c. it is for my 1t that has major rust problems around the inside w/s and frt pillars. the floor problems by the frt braces seem to be the only real problem with it
the fellow in the pic is Jim who is building a 66 GMC panel and has made it into a 4 x 4 with later Blazer axles and springs 350 crate eng . nv4500 with adptor for t/c. going to be quite nice ron Last edited by padresag; 06-10-2012 at 08:29 PM. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I attempted to swap out my stock springs for chevelle springs on my 62 and realized that on some trucks, no matter how much wd40 you use, if those bolts have been in there since 1962, good luck getting them out without shearing the bottom bolts!! D'oh!! Now I get to drill em out and buy new bolts.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Wired up my auxiliary fan to try and stop my cooling issue looks like I'm back to the drawing board though. Just can't seem to keep the 454 cool. Also pulled out a rats nest of (Telephone Wire) that the previous owner had put in to wire up some gauges first time I have seen telephone wire ever used but hey guess thats all he had, but no worries all is good now.

Also, how do you like your C/H compressor? Which model is it? 230 or 115? Last edited by AngryPirate; 06-11-2012 at 12:45 PM. Reason: can't spell or type. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
fabricated a door for the under truck bed box on the flatbed that's on it.
installed the latch, fabricated a post of the latch to catch on and then welded everything on. What a pain doing it with one person, not to mention it was 98 degrees here yesterday, wearing welding clothing. |
