Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Intended on just roughing up the paint on the new (to me) gas tank. The paint started just peeling off in places, so I figured I would go ahead and strip it down to start over.
Before: So Far: Anyone know a rattle can brand/color that would match the GMC silver interior? It does not look like a plain silver. The silver in the pictures is something someone added at some point. There is overspray all over the gaskets, and the glass, so i know that is not factory. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
got a line on a cab so I don't have to practically build a new one. But, I have to buy the entire truck.
It's a SWB 65 with a 455 in it. Gonnahave to figure outwhat the heck to do with the rest of that truck, the long bed on mine and a bunch of other parts. Oh well, it could be worse, I could be short of parts. Steven

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Brought my 85 Camaro 7/8" rear sway bar (actually .850) and all the brackets etc. to my work, steam cleaned everything, threw it all into the bead blast cabinet then painted everything. I chucked the metric U bolts & the metric end link bolts, ain't going to be no metric junk on my truck! I picked up some Stainless U bolts off the shelves at work and I plan on buying some 3/8-16 x 7" grade 8 bolts for the end link bushings. All in all a good day.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Removed the grille from my 66 removed the clear and started polishing. Went ahead and painted the header panel while I had access. Lots of labor left polishing that grille.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Working on upgrading the truck to a wiper system w/washer. Got an OEM switch and knob. Did the polishing on it since its stainless and got it installed. The motor and wiper system will be next.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Tired of the noise levels in the cab before the last tear down, I applied Second Skin Damplifier Pro to the interior of the cab (posted earlier), and sprayed 3M acoustic coating underneath over the weekend...

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Getting there piece by piece. When I converted to factory guages, I upgraded the knobs to the custom knobs. Problem is the repop stuff is garbage and all the knobs looked different even though they came from the same supplier. I have managed to piece together a complete set of OEM custom knobs and only have the choke cable to install.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Anyone know of someplace near North Alabama to have whites shaved?
Also, I picked up the tools to make and bend new brake lines. Steven

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Oh man what an improvement, and the gas mileage is much better too! Here it is out on its shakedown run this evening. You can see how much happier the truck is with the new upgrade!
Actually it is a lot quieter. Before I had only a rubber mat on the bare floor. Now it has partial jute padding and the entire floor is covered in 1/8” plastic. It does make a significant difference in sound deadening. I’ve posted pics in my build thread. I was a bit worried about the fit when I first started working on it because it is so unmanageable. I’m very happy with how it looks now, especially since earlier today I flattened out some of the remaining puckers with a heat gun and magnets. It just looks so rich in the truck compared to the old rubber mat. And the deep black color makes the upholstery look blacker. We took it out on a date and of course got crap all over the floor. So I pulled it in the garage and blew it out with an air hose and it looks like new again!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Just check around with the car club/rat rod guys or call the largest used tire shop in your area. They will know of someone, if they don't do it. I found my place, by word of mouth. Good luck!
