Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Well, I think I found a new shop that will accommodate Miss Daisy and my track car, so I can get to work on massaging Miss Daisy into a fine shop truck.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I think I found I had bad main bearings. I'll go back out in the shop tomorrow or Saturday and see if I really saw what I think I saw...

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I picked up 5 6-lug steelies (need that exta one to match for the stepside bedside mount!) sandblasted and ready for paint for $75. Going to paint them tonight if the weather holds out and get rubber mounted on them this weekend.

Installed a radiator cover from Brothers (complete with scratch) to go along with the core support panels I got last year.

Looks good even with scratch, that I wouldn't have known if you hadn't mentioned it, haha. Looks like a nice piece though.

Went out and put some touches on the old girl. I'm going to try and start and run it tomorrow and possibly drive it around the block.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Rebuilt the edelbrock. It got dirty. I love how easy they are. In less than two hours I had it off the truck, cleaned out, rebuilt, and a running truck again. It was mostly just trapped dirt in the top where the screens area. Runs awesome again.

Be sure to TELL HIM how much you appreciated his " Big brotherliness " over the years , I had none of this growing up and it's to be treasured .

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Put black rubber floor mats in the '67 swb stepper. Started the truck and took it for a short drive to get it up to temperature.
Cleaned the garage enough so I can walk around the truck. Put some tools away I used when I put a new starter in the '86 4-Runner.

Finished up a new work bench that I am going to need to put my engine rebuild, and put my heavy duty engine stand together. Just waiting for my block to come back from the machine shop.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Hey, HotRod C/10, I'm running those spacers and wheels (different tires) on the back, too.
I didn't do this today...but.... All I *did do* was almost finish emptying the bed of the truck into the regular trash...it was the load from cleaning out the shop that *I was* GOING to take to the dump. Which means that four or five gallons of gas I was going to use for the dump run now gets to be used for tooling around...Waaay more fun. ...what I wanted to ask is how do you builders (any block I guess, but especially on a small block V-8) know what cam/lifters and valve set-ups go with which piston and head combo? Is it some sort of performance/tolerance magic? Bet I'm not the only guy who'd like to know.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
All ECE, all the time. 4 1/2" (spindles and springs) up front - 6" in back (springs).....Caviat to avoid any misunderstanding: I didn't buy the rear springs...
I was told they were 6" drops. My pal the P.O. bought them and he wondered later if he'd purchased 5" or 6"....I know that Early Classic is so cool they'd ALWAYS switch springs around. But, because I'm almost down on the bump-stops, I think they are 6's. Also, I'm running their short shocks and shock relocate-kit along with their big, fat anti-sway up front and their adj. pan-hard bar out back. The 338's in the rear are 20 x 10 and the rubbers are 275/45. If you want to see a rear-shot of the tire-profile, I can find a picture. I think I'd like to go with some more sidewall on the front AND back next tire change.
