Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Yesterday, I painted the yellow logo and ring in the hubcaps blue. Today, I shot the center with a layer of clearcoat. The steelies are dry now, and everything is ready to mount to the truck

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Painted backingplate on pass side front.
Painted brake parts I had soaked in rust remover. Found hard fuel line leaking so drained the tank and removed it so I can bend up another. Fixed license plate light. Treated rust I found lurking behind driver tail light housing. Found carb is leaking fuel and radiator is leaking anti freeze. One step forward two steps back. I will be glad when I can drive it. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I put the new tailgate on today. I am overall happy with it and it has all the correct trim.
All I need to do now is get it the correct color which will come when the weather gets better here in Michigan. It is not 100% perfect but does not have the bow in it like the other gate does. It was fun being able to go to the storage unit and just work on it for a while. I will get better photos when I get it back out of storage. Spring is coming. I think those look much better than the other wheels. Good choice.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Light weight day.
Switched out a crusty tilt column lever for a fresh one, fixed the amp meter, and installed a new water (engine) temp sensor. All the gauges are up and running better than new now. Well, at least as *good* as new.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Last sunday the lower ball joint side driver of my C10 69 was broken and was towed home I was lucky that happen 3 blocks of my house.
The reason I thing is the bad quality of the parts. About five years ago I swaped disc brakes from a C10 1980 and I had to change the lower ball joints and I paid about 10 bucks for each, now I paid 36 for a name brand MOOG. Since I did the swap I've moved my truck only 3000 miles. Now whenever I do something to my truck I'll take care of good parts. http://img580.imageshack.us/img580/162/0226031933.jpg http://img801.imageshack.us/img801/9954/0224030752.jpg http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/7287/0224030751a.jpg |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
just a thought here I expeirenced a wallerd out ball joint hole on a spindle once 3 times that sucker popped out on me all 3 times i replaced the ball joint thinking that was the problem till i finally decided to go all out and completly rebuild the sub frame with all new parts thats when i found the wallard hole and glad i did lucky me only one time it popped out on the road I crossed over some rr tracks doing about 25-30 mph and it popped and really screwed stuff up. once it happened backing out the driveway and once it happened at the strip heating up the tires(got lucky there)
needless to say i dont screw around with balljoints after all that.everything i build gets new moog's

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Walked out to it @ 04:30 , pumped the foot feed once and turned the key ~ it's been sitting for two weeks so it took a moment to light off and settle into a nice fast idle , then I drove it to work with 0 drama .
Why I love my old Chevrolet Light Duty Trucks !
