I kind of find the prices all to be pretty depressing, actually. Probably doesn't help that I got one of these back in '99 for $250 at an auction sale and drove it home. So maybe you can imagine what I think of seeing something that doesn't even have an engine going for over a thousand.

I sold a complete running '68 Buick Skylark California GS with a rebuilt engine for $2k, several years ago. These days, guys are looking at shells without engine, trans, or interior for $2500 and think they've found the Mother Lode!

I feel the same way about prices through the roof. But I also have to remind myself 1999 was almost a quarter century ago. But still true that prices, or people, went crazy. It used to be the really nicely done or fine surviving examples went for good money for the times. Now it's anything is worth a lot.
I just looked on FB Marketplace yesterday morning, which I don't do often. Next thing I know I'm on my way to the far side of Baltimore to pick up a pair of N.O.S. painted below eyeline mirror heads, which was perfect. I just got back from Carlisle where I had a set of 69-71 painted mirrors for sale that didn't sell. I've wanted to disassemble, sandblast and paint them but the mirror heads do have a ding or two and one has broken glass. I guess that's why no one wanted them. Now, with these N.O.S. mirror heads, suddenly these mirrors have become worthy of a restoration
