Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I passed a New Hampshire state inspection today. The truck had a valid NH inspection sticker on it when I bought it last year, but it should not have had one for several reasons.
First issue was a total failed rag joint, made worse by the fact that the coupler was separated enough that it was close to zero steering control. That was the first repair I did a couple of days after I bought it. Second was that someone had used lift blocks to raise the front end. I installed new front springs last week. Third was a decent sized hole in the drivers side floor, which I patched last week. The tech did a thorough job and I am happy to be on the road again! Went outside at 7am today, and worked steady until 7pm doing a driveway paint job on mine. The weatherman saying heat advisory can suck it! Now, to figure out the new way to post pics since photobucket is a no go anymore.

You do not need Photo F%$!it. Load pics from camera phone to computer. And away their scheme went!

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
PB and other originally "free" photo sharing services are really un-necessary and all rely on their user base just accepting their new fees to share what is essentially not even their property...your images.
Most phones nowadays will allow the pics stored on the phone to be downloaded to a computer...usually using the charger cord that has a USB style connection on the power pack end. For those unaware of how to do the transfer, on a Windows computer, On your desktop, right click and choose New Folder...name the folder "pics"... Now connect your phone to the computer by plugging the power pack end of the charger cord into a USB port on the computer. You will see two messages pop up...one on the phone asking permission to connect to the computer...just press connect or permit...and a message on the computer in a menu popup choose "open folder to view files"... On the computer, navigate down to the images on the phone...hold down the Shift key and choose the images you want to copy from the phone to your computer,,,right click, choose Copy.... On the computer, open the "pics" folder, right click and choose Paste...the images will load to the pics folder. Depending on your phone camera settings, the images may be too large for the site to accept...You can use the Windows included program Paint to resize your images, albeit, you need to do them one at a time. Choose an image, right click, choose Open With, then choose Paint, choose Resize, then type in 3) and leave it as %...the image will downsize to 30 % of its original size...choose Save, then close Paint... Do this for each image you need to resize. To upload an image when making a post, go to Attachments option...choose the image and choose Upload... Hope this helps out some folks... |

Cleaned the paint off the fuel and vent lines, from a two-bit frame restoration I did some decades ago.
An initial polish as well. The picture is bad, but I've since stored them away. They're like new. While I wouldn't have thought it's relevant, I've seen the lines on my other truck, yikes.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
All SS brake lines in all 4 corners are finally plumbed in... what a PITA that was. Now on to the SS fuel line. Stained the bed floor with the black and next time Im home Ill sand it back down so the black is only in the grain and then Ill re-stain in a more natural color and clear coat... going for an aged look... not sure why some of the boards came out kind of smoky and some are lighter than others when I did the same thing to all of them, but it shouldn't make a difference once its all sanded bake down... This hydraulic flaring tool is awesome!

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
PB has really put us in a temporary squeeze. I've stopped uploading photos there. I've begun to use Flickr again. Trying to attach pictures to a post is more inconvenient in my opinion. And some forums limit each post to only 1 attachment.

BIG PROGRESS TODAY at least for me.....
Had to go get a friend so he could help me (his truck doesn't run) but once back we were able to get the headlights back on along with the fan shroud, hood latch, and hood latch support bracket. I spray painted my old bolt j-nuts with Eastwood Chassis Paint. Hope to get the grill on tomorrow! |

On Sunday, went and picked up a new SB fleet bed and met a member of the board. Now the real fun begins - removal of old bed and installation of new one.
