Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I'm sure the Cherry Bomb muffler helped in getting their attention. The bigger 2 dogs were behind a fence.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Finished this a few hours ago. Many hours brushing it on, three coats. Sick of painting too, primarily because yesterday might have been the windiest day in a year. Never-mind the allergens, I couldn't role up either door, so add poor ventilation. Stomach woke me up at 4:30, because my sinuses were shot.
Edit: Might be worth mentioning, 1/2" rectangle foam "cleaning swab" sticks work real well for tight places. In hindsight I'd have used them more than I did. I used those with a good 1" brush.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
On the downhill slide with the front end rebuild. All that is left now is bolting everything back together!!
Picked up the front control arms from the powder coater. So much easier than wiring wheeling, priming and painting! |

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I mounted and balanced 4 new tires and wheels. Ford Steelies and 255/85/16. I found that stick on weights will not clear the calipers in the front and I also found that it's been so long since I mounted tires that I had to go to YouTube to figure out how to use our new machine. Now time to find some hubcaps!

Did you straighten the grille surround or replace it? Looks good again.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I installed a fire extinguisher today. It was the last part of my getting the truck ready for the summer. Below is a picture of my fusible link. While removing old brake lines one shorted to 12V.....and I got out from under to see my link glowing red hot. It did its job for sure. In the future I will be disconnecting the battery when working under the hood. Bottom picture is the rear end work I also finished today by torquing all the new spring hardware.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Looks like your powder coater was nice enough not to do the ball joint surface in the lower. Did he coat the threads for the cross shafts? Mine did, sucks getting it out.

He plugged the threaded end and the ball joints. Guy is top notch. He's done some commercial work for me as well. Always great quality. If you are in the KC area, HMC Performance Coating in Tonganoxie, KS.
