Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Not a C10, but semi fab-ish/repair work. My mom's 2000 Avalon has some issues, this front Catalytic converter being one. When I went to remove it, the rear manifold looked like this.....
And drilled out the busted bolts and fixed the flange using some 3/8 ID copper tubing to keep the hole from filling with weld. New parts coming this week. |

1157's just aren't bright enough today on the road with everyone and their laser blinders on high
But I never like the look of the dots that LED lights have so I fitted some diffuser panels in the lens and I think they turned out great!![]() The pic has a hot spot in it, but they really are just a smooth solid block of light, fronts are next! Today I installed a couple shims behind my newly installed water pump pulley. After smelling burnt rubber and breaking a belt I looked closer to the accessory belt alignment. The cooling fins on the alternator were touching the bet.
If you’re changing out a water pump, pay attention to the water pump shaft length. Aftermarket parts press the shaft in at different lengths. Here are the shims I used. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Just a little update, I haven't been here on the forum in a while.
The C10 has been in storage for a while but last month we finally found a good local speed shop and had her rollbacked off for reinstatement, updates and rework. The job: update distributor to HEI. Update brakes to power discs on all 4 corners. Install 3:53 diff and posi. Install 2" hitch. Modernize A/C. Install upgrade headlight harness with relays, etc. New 15" steering wheel. New "orignal look" instrument panel, added tach. What happened: all of the above + new wiring harness in cab (found shade-tree household wiring, duct-tape repairs and a general mess). New wiring aft of cab, same issues...+ added hitch wiring. New Holley carb...the original had worn shafts, linkages, etc. New shoes (radial T/As again). Miz Diane is just back from her test drive in the picture. It's her truck...she just lets me drive it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
I went to make a quick adjustment on the air door before a test drive....and ended up taking the air horn off, replacing the tension spring, dropping the secondary rod off the bracket(which seems impossible), then popping it off again to spear the internal lever with the choke shaft
No test drive, ![]() I should probably stake the internal lever onto the choke rod. One less PITA

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Today I decided to start the process of reupholstering and repairing my seat. I bought a new cover from Ricks Custom Upholstery 2 years ago, and CUSTOM/10 supplied a seat with the springs I need to replace 4 broken ones.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Took advantage of a sunny day to poke into the wiper electrics and determined the motor is bad
A real PITA for a big guy with big hands to get in there, wish I had done this when I replaced the ducts and had easier access

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
took measurements from where the cab ends up past the cab mount and the bed side starts drilled through the frame for the positive cable and used a PCV valve cover grommet to protect it ...battery box installed..... finally
