Re: What did you do to your truck today?

got the crate motor install bout done, lots of little issues but was able to work them all out one at a time. ran out of time today so i just have to put the hood on in the morning then bring her home from the shop, connect the front turnsignal wires back up and put the front bumper back on then give her a bath. installed the flowmasters today and made some turndowns until i figure out what pipes i want to run. good enough for the goodguys show. that thing has nuts and sounds nasty.

Yeah I shot that with an iPhone app called Instagram that lets you apply some filters and add a border. The app was bought by Facebook earlier this year for a BILLION dollars. I don't think they had but about 20 employees. You could buy some really cool trucks with that kind of cash!

updated

drove my truck home yesterday from the shop where i put the crate motor in about 35 miles to the west. stopped and had new custom tailpipes installed, they guy did a great job and it sounds bad ass. the truck ran perfect, no problems/leaks/funny noises, then re soldered the hood wires that i cut when i took the hood off, had to put on a small air cleaner, the 14 incher was hitting the plug wires on the distributor. maybe i can find a higher base plate this weekend. this morning i will reinstall the front bumper then wash it. ready for the goodguys show this weekend in charlotte.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Took the crossmember over to my buddy's shop, put it up on the bench and took it most of the way apart. Can't get the ball joints off. I cut the rivet heads and used a punch but the rivets wouldn't budge.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Got my GMC ready to be drivien for the first time since 1997...going to a car show tomorrow. So far it has new rear brake shoes with wheel cylinders, all new cap, coil, rotor, wires, plugs, points, and condensor. In addition to all that, I had to free up 5 stuck intake valves, straighten 3 push rods, break free the door mechanisms, and fix the gas gage. The truck has sat so long, a lot of things on it are corroded together. I still have to figure out why the front parking lights & turn signals don't work, and the heater doesn't work. I've gone thru almost a full can of penetrating oil working on her.

I had the same problem. I ended up using an air chisel between the ball joint and the control arm. It took a min but, it finally worked a gap in there so I could pry it the rest of the off.

They just did this on trucks TV Saturday. Not sure if you can watch the segment but they cut off the ball joint with a torch then heated the rivets with the torch and used an air hammer to get the rivets out. Looked pretty easy if you have a torch.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Spent all day mounting the new fender emblems. Who would think so much time could be spent on such a simple project. The upside being both sides came out exactly the same and I'm very pleased with the results. Details and photos tomorrow.
