Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
finishing up the swap from the three on the tree to a 700R4. installed the shortened driveshaft and finished the Lokar shifter installation. just have to hook the exhaust back up, add fluid, and give it a try. (might be next week though.) doing this by yourself is a pain.
Sunday: tried to fill trans with fluid. no luck. new dipstick tube is so small I don't have a funnel to fit it. tried rigging something with a small tube but that didn't work either. gave up and ordered a stock style tube. Last edited by jethro5333; 08-13-2017 at 03:57 PM. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
After my last pull over to the coast I was a little disappointed with the output of my 350, so I'm working on a cam, header and Vortec head installation. Always had big blocks in my tow vehicles but thought I'd try an upgrade on the existing engine before going that route.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Got my ammeter working after being dead for who knows how many years. Thanks to a board search, I checked the two fuses at the ends of the core support. One of them was shattered. NAPA didn't have any short 4 amp fuses so I'm trying a 3 amp. So far, so good.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
finally got a transmission dipstick tube to go in the 700r4. bought a Mr. gasket tube but it didn't fit. ended up bending it almost straight to get it in. filled the trans and tried the gears (on jackstands). seems to shift OK. this weekend will be the big test!

Finished installing new water pump, valve cover gaskets, gates belts after some fresh paint dried. Took more time than I first thought, one thing led to another, you all what know I mean. Turned out ok--no leaks--AHH the smell of fresh paint! This Forum and the people here are the Best! ( the florescent light sure does change the color of the paint )

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Thanks Big Block-I see in your profile you have a Blazer-NICE-Question I am helping a friend with a 70 Blazer-he wants new long tube Exhaust Headers . Just wondering if your Blazer has long tube Headers, if so do they fix without modifying. 350-350-4x4 auto. I see HOOKER #2452-1HKR fit rear wheel drive but doesn't say 4x4 any information would be great.

Trying to wax and polish an 84 Jeep for the wife. The bird crap will not budge even with a light polishing compound.
I am finishing up with a coat of wax and selling this junk. Time to turn the efforts back the CHEVROLET! |

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
My new summit heads came last week, so today I masked up my block, heads, and oil pan, shot with VHT primer and then chevy orange rattle cans. Looks decent. Definitely better than it did! I don't remember why I wanted to paint it while it was disassembled, but there was a reason. But I can finally assemble, and move on to suspension, brakes, bodywork, interior, trans conversion. Crap...

Installed the interior including the ACC carpet kit that I've had for 18 months!! Thanks paint jail! Belts and sill plates went in today too. Time to put a few miles on her to tie up any loose ends and get any bugs out.
