Re: What did you do to your truck today!

A few weeks ago, I pulled the 12 bolt out of my K10 with the intent of cleaning it up, painting it, and installing my 3.73 posi carrier and gears......And then the "might as well"s took over. The brakes were completely trashed, so I figured I might as well swap to rear disks, Found a relatively inexpensive way to do it, but I had to drill out the rotors and axles for different wheel studs. I've always hated the short 7/16" stock wheel studs so I figured I might as well upgrade to bigger 14mm studs. Finally got the caliper brackets welded on today, but now I need to put the truck on the back burner for a little bit so I can swap the motor and tranny in my 64 Nova.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

This was actually Saturday, but I plugged a vacuum leak tightened some screws down above the float bowl grabbed an exhaust manifold bolt and screwed it in while the manifold was hot and the holes still lined up, then re-tuned the carb for Spring on an actually warm, dry day in NC.

Then I heard there's a chance of snow this coming Sunday

Whups, forgot to mention reconditioning and relubing my speedo cable, and reattaching my hand choke cable, and other "tinkerings and knick-knacks"

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Replaced the charcoal and filter in my vapor canister, put in a new PCV valve and got the thermostatic air cleaner working again. My truck runs best on warm or hot air so I leave the stock system alone and today I figured I'd get it working as well as possible.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Day before I got all the bed floor rails out by cutting all the rusted bolts off and got the TEMP gooseneck plate put in until I can build my hidden plate.

Yesterday I got my electric fan brackets built and the fan mounted and working and got my 6 way light connector mounted in the back bumper.

Today...............................nothing cause I have to go help a friend do a PA install at a church and the wife gets off early.

Pulled my grille, now have to purchase some support brackets to install the new grille. Also change out the passenger side fender.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

More progress! On the bed top/bottom, we tinted the bed liner. I will be doing a wood bed (Show deck) but wanted the protection (plus it looks good lol)

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I put my new bumper on my truck today. It had a 71-72 bumper on it when I got it 6 years ago and always wanted to get the correct bumper. I had some bodywork done to the fender back in December/January so the old one came off and I figured nows the time to make a swap. I have been riding around without a bumper because I was waiting on some warmer temps to paint the backside of the bumper, but I finally have it on now.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

DISCLAIMER: ON

I'm only posting every day because I'm out there working on it every day. If I get too loud, someone shut me down.

DISCLAIMER: OFF

Today, I finished plugging the leaks in the new electric fuel pump set-up, re-installed the carpet and tank cover, after adjusting some of the in-cab wiring.
Fuel delivery system is now fresh from the tank filler to the intake manifold.

Went to start it. Perfect fuel pressure (I have a gauge on the line)..."crank, crank, crank".....After three years of every once and a while non-starting,
this non-start helped me finally figure it out. The (new at the time) manual fuel pump was sh*%. Pretty. But sh*%......

....And, I wasn't getting a full 12v. After checking at the battery, I had 10.4v. I checked because I put the meter on the electric choke that wasn't closing.
That's what it read. Then, the same reading at the battery. I put the charger on for about five minutes and "Vooooooommmmmm!"

Went for a ride. Wouldn't shift properly. Trans fluid leak.....And, I looked under...New rear main leaking. Aieeeee!!!!!

Oh, well.

My dad hung that up years ago when I graduated from high school, I think its funny too. That 71 in the background is my brothers but he doesn't get on here much.
