Mrhino... My post #526 on the 338 wheels/tires I went with this size tires:

245/40-20 Falken FK 452 HP _ Front
275/35-20 Falken FK 452 HP _ Rear

They have a very close Diameter... The 275 wide tire is pretty sick.

hope this helps

Kris - Zammer
Thanks Kris it looks like your about 27 1/2 inches tall. Im using 18's at 27" inches tall on the rear, the fronts I'm undecided looking at 245/45/18

Can anyone please measure total outside width of thier rear wheels, I think I got too big of a real tire. 315/35/20...12" wide. worried it will not tuck if laid out???
I wish i could fit a 315, may be able to get a 305, but will upgrade to a 295 when time comes.

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5

on my 69' 12 bolt truck rearend using percy's wheelrite tool i am not able to run 295's. i was wanting to put on 295/40/20 with 245/40/20 fronts. i am a leaf spring rear though if that plays much in widths? i will settle for 275/40/20 for now.

I'm running a 275-40-20" on the rear, it fits the wheel but looks a little stretched to me.

Make sure you post up some pics when you get them on. I was thinking about getting those but went with the Boss 338s because of the BS for the rear.

Fast95 what's the specs on your wheels? I've got a '91 and I've been looking at this same wheel. Your look like they fit really well.

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5

20x8.5 fronts with 5.25 bs, 275-40-20" tires and 20x10 rears with 6.225 bs, 275-40-20" tires in rear. I'll upgrade to a 295-40 or a 305-35 tires for the rears just for a better fit.

Thanks for the info. Are you running a 2/4 drop? Very nice looking truck by the way.

Thanks, i'm not sure on the height, it was lowered when i bought it, but i'm guessing a 2/4 would be right. I went more for the performance with this one.

lolife99 - If you don't mind me asking, what was your total cost for the 1" rotors, dropped spindles, calipers, ball joints, and tie rod ends?

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5

sixnine,...
I'm not sure I have all the numbers.
The 1" wide rotor drop spindles are Belltech from Summit or Jegs.
(I've had them along time)

The D52 Wilwood calipers are part# 950-120-10937 from Jegs.
($165 each)

The rotors came from SSBC. They're zinc plated, slotted rotors.
Part # 23083 AA 2R
Part # 23083 AA 2L
I also ordered pads and a new hardware kit from SSBC.
(total bill from them was $221.00)
SSBC was great to deal with over the phone. I told them what I was doing and they fixed me up.
They know there's two different size rotors available for these trucks. They were also familiar with the D52 Wilwood calipers.
Super fast shipping also.

Balljoints and tie rod ends are just from my local parts store.
I normally use NAPA.

Sorry,... not much help.
But I've been collecting parts for a long time.

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5

Looks like I'm in for a real treat trying to get a set of these wheels to work. I had my eye on them for a few months now and someone in another thread led me here. I'd say they are worth the effort but WHY haven't they made a revision to this wheel??? They would certainly sell a LOT more of them. I wonder if all their wheels for 5 on 5 have the same issue? Because I had also considered the 336's...

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5

Okay, guys. I'm gonna chime in as one of those people who just talked to someone at American Eagle Wheels. I called the national number for AEW (909-590-8828) and was directed to my area's sales office in Bloomington, Minnesota (800-245-3115, or 952-942-8453 if you're local). Dan La Bossiere is the manager and was the name I was given by the national office, but Curt (sp?) is who answered the phone and fielded my questions. I was told the following:
  1. They received a message from headquarters around Christmas time saying that the 338's were being retooled and production would begin soon.
  2. Their target was to have the revised wheels ready before spring.
  3. They started production about 4 weeks ago and production is typically an 8-week cycle, meaning that they should be going into boxes for shipping in about 4 more weeks.
  4. The revised part number for the wheels is expected to end in -3-AA. The current ones on the market end in -1-AA (old stock) and -2-AA (current design). I didn't ask about differences between -1 and -2 because I really didn't care.
As always in this thread, I'll believe it when I see it, but as far as I can tell this is the most specific information anyone has gotten (or at least posted) to date from AEW. Maybe it will at least quell the "when are they coming out?" questions for a month while we continue to wait. If we hit April and there's still no news, then it's time to start rattling the cage again.

Cheers,
Brent

Brent - did you happen to ask them if they were going to make some additional backspacings other than the 6.25"?

Nope, but there are a couple numbers up there you could call. (Seriously, it'd be interesting if someone else called the national number and got directed to a different regional office to see if they could get the same story from another rep.)

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5

I called the local distributor here in B'ham Al. and the story was that the hold up is the new center cap. SUPPOSEDLY there are 8000 wheels in the primary warehouse waiting for the correct "new design" center cap.

I'm with brossow....I'll believe it when I see it!
