Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
Now, that's what I'm talkin' about!
Is that one of those one-piece aftermarket Alt, PS & AC mounts?

Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
Nope, I took the vintage air bracket, cut it up, and modified it to fit over an HEI distributor, I took the P/S bracket and cut it up to fit over the turbo manifold, and I used the stock Alt. bracket and then used Chrome tube spacers to get it out further from the block so that I could get better belt contact. I also built a separate idler pulley for the A/C drive belt so that the A/C is a stand alone belt setup that can be taken on or off in less than 3 minutes. The Pulleys are from a SBC The P/S pulley I had to chuck up in the lathe and cut the rear pulley groove off of it.

Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
Do you have pictures with all belts in place? I have a similar setup, but I can't tell how you are driving the alternator. The factory image only shows the PS belt and doesn't show the alt belt, but it is needed.
They show their Alt belt in front of the PS belt. On mine, the water pump pulley is agaist the pump so I am assuming they had a completely different balancer than I am using. An idler for the AC belt is a nice idea because of the long run, but I haven't found it necessary on mine. I wanted to mount the Ac compressor as low as I could on the 292 so I used a External coil HEI. Maybe too low. I still have to take the belt off and raise the compressor to get the cap off. Nice turbo setup.

Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
It's a 79 fj40 landcruiser. The engine's a 2F. I think it's 258cu.in. I wanted to convert it to sbc but it's so common in my neck of the woods I decided to leave the 6. I have a 292 though that would happily take the place of the tired old 2F in that engine bay. The nice thing about 6's is the diesel like torque, it's great for wheelin.

Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
Here is my freshly rebuilt 250, mostly stock but with long tube headers. Might try dual or triple carbs in the future....
It's in my '69 c10 project truck, and is running but hasn't been on the road yet. [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG]

This thread rules! I have been wanting a 67-72 c10 with a 250 or 292 lately but they have been a pain to find.

That is a sweet lookin' mill. What's he running for carbs? Looks like 2 Holleys... Two Barrels?
I covet his valve cover.

Buy a fixer-upper with a 350 and drop that boat anchor and put in an L6.

Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
I had a crazy idea to hard pipe my by-pass lines. It was a PITA to do, but I had a couple of reasons for wanting to do this.
I know that the first thought is how difficult it will be to change the fan belt. I'm willing to accept that. That's why I put a union where I did. I figure if I don't like it, I can change it later.

Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
I'm planning on running Clifford's cam, intake, headder, and the 4bb carb plate. But I just can't decide which carb to use? And also convert to HEI.

The new and improved 292 in mine. Replaced the original 250 with this.

Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
I have a 292 with Clifford headers, Offy intake and 4Bbl Edelbrock 1404 500 CFM carb. I like it a lot. I ran the Holley 4160-R8007 390 FCM for 25 years, but after rebuilding the engine, the Holley crapped out [after only 250,000 miles!], Since a new throttle plate was almost as much as a new carb, I went with the AFB type Eddy. They're a lot easier to tune.

Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
The Offy intake with Holley 390 has been a solid performer for me. It has been almost 2 years since installing, and no problems to date. I did swap the electric choke for a manual cable choke, but otherwise haven't touched the carb since the first week. The truck sees some around town driving, but also tows my 24' Airstream regularly.

Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
I also converted my 390 Holley to manual choke, plus adding a 50cc accelerator pump and converting the rod-style gas pedal linkage to a throttle cable. I have Pertronix Ignitor II which works real good.
