Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
You ought to know, you painted it, and buffed it out! Thanks again for your help with that, and helping me get it on and lined up the best we could.

I do have a small issue. Aaron and I installed the Eddie Motorsports hood hinges and the entire hood sits too far to the passenger side. There is relatively no adjustment side to side, so I'm not sure exactly how I'm going to get it lined up perfectly, but I do know the entire truck needs some panel alignment done, so I'm not worried about it yet. After an hour of adjustment, we have it the best we could get it without going through and aligning the rest of the panels. I'm wanting to take it to LST with the C/10 Club at the end of February, so I won't be pulling it apart before then, but I think I'll be doing it shortly after that. At least getting the panels lined up better.

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
I printed out a little semi-transparent sticker template for my sport mirrors. Sticker part didn't work, so I taped it on.
drilled the holes (sorry for the side swap, forgot to take a pic without the mirror installed on the same side) and mounted the sport mirrors

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
Thanks Mike! She's definitely a good copilot. Not much for directions though The mirrors just fit so much better. Now I can actually use my wing windows and SEE the mirrors!!!

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
So I welded up the old mirror holes and got some filler on it for temporary fix. This will all be stripped to do the body work on the door when I start to prep for a new paint job.
Spot primer after color sanding to blend it back in. Not the greatest match, but at least it's not gray. This should do for a little bit. Now I just need to polish it and reinstall the mirrors.

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
Thanks Mike. Does that mean you'll be making the trip down on Saturday? Are you bringing your truck?

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
I'm working on a plan right now. Everything will have to line up perfect for me to be able to make the trip. I've another plan for Friday for months I can't get out of. If I go it will probably mean getting up super early or driving straight through Friday night.

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
I thought I had a close-up of the chipped paint on the passenger bedside, but I don't. Regardless, I fixed the chips with a skim coat of filler, and painted it with the color matched spray paint. It's not perfect, but it was good enough for the Lone Star Throwdown show this past weekend.
I sanded, filled, sanded, filled, sanded, primed, sanded, painted, cleared, color sanded, buffed and polished in a roughly 20 hour period. Not bad for spray paint.

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
And Ruben (poweredbychevy79) snapped this picture at LST on Saturday. Looks a lot better in the pic than it does in person. Makes me really want to get this painted.

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
It's been a while since I've done anything to the truck, so it's about time for an update. My wife went out of town with her mom on spring break. With that time alone I was able to do a few things to the truck without having to worry about honey-do's she might have for me.
So I installed the Digi-Tails LED panels... First, I must say that the Fesler lenses don't leave any room for an LED panel so I had to order the Marquez lenses. They are TIGHT, but the LED panels fit inside the Marquez lights. Here's a comparison of both lenses; Fesler on the right, Marquez on the left... Fesler on top Marquez below Digi-Tails LED panel installed New Marquez lights installed

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
I also extended my exhaust, although I had to finish it up after my wife returned.
The old exhaust dumped before the trailing arm cross member which was extremely loud and resonated a lot in the cab. It now dumps right in front of the rear axle. Modified "s" bend to allow exhaust tube to pass through trailing arm cross member (don't mind the road grime, grease and dirt accumulation... it's been used as a truck for a very long time. It won't be a frame off resto for some time). Pass through the cross member (this is the old dump location) Another "s" bend to get the mufflers between the frame rails. I have heat shields coming to keep the heat away from the air management stuff (the black metal piece above the exhaust). Not too bad for my first exhaust job. I think I'd do it differently if I had more space and time to do this in. It definitely cut down on the resonation and I don't anticipate any more ringing ears on long trips. It still sounds good outside the cab, which is awesome.
