Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Good call on leaving the door alignment alone right now. We try and do more of the major body work to save $$$ and then let the painter finese from there. I’ve got several buddies who are painters that truly impress with the skills they’ve acquired over their lifetimes. I'd just Tommy Boy the thing you know!
Your nutz could be found in Florida! http://www.ebay.com/itm/65-66-67-68-...913533?vxp=mtr

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
That word free. Gets me everytime. Lol
Well decided to work on the radiator core support. I am using a 70k20 frame with a 67-68 front clip. So the bushing key for a 67-68 are just flat rubber washer and think steel washer. So I took the front 69-72 radiator bushing and locked it is my lathe at work. Decided to cut it down by 3/8" to match up with the thickness of the stock 67-68. I was able to just split the upper bushing and put the 70 frame around it. Kept the stock lower bushing and sleeve which allowed me to use the bolt with the kit.

This is the difference between the stock 67-68 and 69-72 heights.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Thanks Brett. The fan set up works well with the LS motor and computer control. I wired them so that both fans work on low speed and high speed with 3 relays. Never noticed how dusty everything is until I looked at the pictures.
I am also moving shops. (next door to the other one) but slowly getting my tools in the same shop I am working in. Tired of walking back and forth....

Looking good man What kind of fans are you using and did you have the power steering lines made or is there a "kit" to buy?

The PS lines were built by a forum member. they are for a SBC. I did have to relax a bend on the hi pressure line to the pump. I made a fitting to go from the metric PS pump to SAE flare of the hose. He made the lines with Stainless steel ends.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
That's partly why I cover mine up and to keep the flying crap off it when we work on something else. Ha, years ago I covered the front of my black 68 GMC that was parked right outside the garage with Chevrolet orange overspray!

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Ok back to the hulk build! Loaded up the can and dropped it off at the body shop. He told me he would have the body work, undercoating, and firewall painted in about a month. That will be awesome.
Here are a few pictures we took of the cab on the rotisserie loaded up ready to deliver.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Since I had room in my shop I got the bed put on the cart and brought inside and thought "what the heck, let's get the gas door mocked up"
The gas door is from a Sonoma Blazer.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Turned out pretty good I think! I will be cutting the inside and installing the boot (plastic piece the filler neck attachs to) and will finish up the piping when I put the bed on the truck for mock up.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Congrats on getting the cab out for paint it's going to be sharp! Good job on the filler door Scott that looks great. Is the bed going out for paint when the cab gets back?

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Thanks Brett. Yes I'm going to fix what I can on the bed and get it mocked up on the frame so I can get the filler pipe ready to go. After that I will take it to him and have him do the bodywork on it Paint the front panel etc. I will end up mocking up the whole truck before I blow it apart and have it painted at the same time. The three stage paint adds a little complexity to it so I am going with what my paint guy says. I don't know painting that well

I remember when I did my gas door, the first time I cut on my truck, talk about being nervous and a learning curve for me! Your making great progress!

What was your donor gas door from? Min was a sonoma blazer. I agree the first time I cut on a vehicle I was nervous also. It was my 56 chevy. I cut the cowl area. These were not repopped peices. But went fine. So worked on the gas door some more. Well after I added 10 double 46" t5HO floresent lights in my shop. No more shadows.
