Curious how well Homer handles? Being that Homer is now sporting a short wheel base and the heavy suspension. Homer looks like one tuff truck. There probably isn't a stump he cant pull out.

I agree. It rides like a stiff buckboard. Not sure how comfortable it will be. Might have to work on that once he's on the road. As to handling. Seems to stick like glue. I am actually thinking about running him in the autocrosss event in the Goodguys show whenever he makes it there. That thing's a hoot. My last Chevelle was a blast on the autocross. My current Chevelle would cut into the side wall of the rear tires if I tried tossing it around the corners so haven't been able to run it these last few years.

Homer looks really tough. Nice proportions and I really like the wheels. I am curious about plans for the rear bumper. Gotta be something that matches the tough look maybe with a tow hitch too?

Going to use the old step bumper I cut to fit the widened bed for now. Not exactly sure what will happen as a permanent fix.

Mirrors are Ford F-Series manual mirror. Dorman part # 955-269. Got em off Amazon for $26 each. Found em from a thread on this forum on sport mirrors. No offense, but I don't really care for the look of the stock 68 mirrors that came on these trucks.

i did the vent windows on an 81 and they were a PITA also.

Thanks. Guy on you tube made it look real easy. I guess after you have done a hundred they get easier. Not to mention the cool rivet squishers he has.

Not much progress but at this point I will take any I can get. Been too busy trying to get my Chevelle ready to sell, but this week I took Homer down and had a bedliner sprayed in.

Had to change out the GTO late model seats. Put in some new Pro-Car lower seats. The GTO seats had your head in the headliner. Too tall. Probably use them on my next build. Also installed some electronic exhaust cutouts. Really hear that nasty cam when they're open. Have finally come to the point of "being tired of working on it". Time to let it find a new home and me to move onto my 63 GMC for a hot rod to take to the shows.

I've seen so pic's of your Chevelle here somewhere and the buyer will get a really nice car! I will tag along on the 63 whenever you get to it.

The spray in liner really cleans Homer up, very nice touch. It just screams I'm a work horse now load me up with a ton of brick, rock, lumber, dirt or whatever needs to be hauled.

Well. I have been super busy lately trying to tidy up some loose ends on my Chevelle getting it ready to possibly sell it next month. Have not been doing too much on old Homer for a while. Finally swapped out the distributor and had my painter friend come over for one last polish and overspray clean up before the front trim went back on. It cleaned up real nice. While the Chevelle was at the upholstery shop I cleaned old Homer up today and took him for a little cruise through the neighborhood. Took a couple pics to show he's been sidelined but not forgotten.
You know it was on the 22nd of December last year I drove over to San Diego and picked up Homer. Started this year long obsession. Not over yet, but well on the way and maybe over the hump. We'll see.
