Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
Looking good Joe. Thank you for the great OKC welcome you gave us on Thursday evening. I almost peed my pants.
I've never been to OKC in my life. We pulled into the hotel at about 9pm. I step out of the truck, set my foot on the ground, and the first thing I here is -"Who said you can park that POS there?!?!" Scared the crap out of me. It was Joe. Funny guy. It was cool meeting you, and thanks again for the welcome. Too bad we didn't get more of a chance to chat. Don't forget to add "Hoser's Girl" to your list too... My lady's also a member. C-ya!

Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
Hey Joe,
Sorry I did not chime in sooner. Have been working on a garage cleaning project all weekend. On the DPLF products, this is what I have done/learned. The 401 activator is for applying directly to bare metal, and requires a 30 minute induction period. Something in the chemical make up, changes in that 30 minutes to make it work properly. I never noticed the primer thinning out in that 30 minutes. I have used the 401 activator with all the DPLF I have sprayed. The reducer, turns the DP into a sealer, instead of an epoxy primer. If you haven't finished, you definately want to use the 401 on the blasted parts. I have sprayed all of my primer with a $79 husky hvlp gun at about 35#'s of air with a 1.4 tip, un reduced, and have had no issues with thickness. The tip is a little small, and causes a slight orange peel, however I will be blocking this down, later in life. My thoughts on your thickness issue are: Ambient temp too low, or too cold over night. Old product. Or maybe gun/compressor set up issues. In my business I do epoxy concrete coatings, and the products I use, definately have a shelf life, they thicken up as they get older. Hope this helps, Nick Last edited by FreeRideYZ250; 03-03-2009 at 01:36 AM. |

Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
Yeah come up to WA I have a decent enough front yard for you to pitch a tent and a bon fire. Just North of Seattle that's if you feel the need to see Seattle.

That would be like 2 years off. National board meet is next year. My truck has a lot to prove before it gets that far away from home. All the Okie boys should be done and broken in by then to.
