Ouch...Kevin what happened to the bullet? Is it fixable...or is it an anchor.

I'm installing a 200 shot and a chute...

Re: Its Mine the World Famous 67 Dragtruck

Its an anchor I'm afraid! I think it broke a rod but I don't have it out yet. I have been too busy fighting with trailer tires. If I had not had the last blowout I would have pulled the motor!

Are you going plate or fogger? I may sell my fogger to help on a new block purchase.

Sorry to hear about the demise of the motor Kevin. Any post-mortem yet? You know everyone loves pictures of death and destruction Were you were hitting it with a 250 shot when it went away???

I made 2 nos passes everything seemed fine. Then I made a pass on the motor in the bracket race had a .006 light and about 400ft I had a violent shutter and I pulled it over to the wall. I'll try to get it out tonight!

Its UGLY! It looks like a rod bolt may have failed and started the carnage. The block may be usable but the crank, rods and pistons are junk. I have a new rotating assembly I just have to buy a block, pan, pump, balancer, flywheel, bigger hedders and bigger intake! I will be down for a while!

Ouch. Sorry to hear about that. Well at least you were planning a new motor already.

Re: Its Mine the World Famous 67 Dragtruck

It appears that I had a bearing failure on number 4 rod bearing that led to all the carnage. I don't think it was a rod bolt. The rest of the bearings in the motor look fine. I don't think nitrous was a factor at all.

Just goes to show, a well built and maintained engine will take a BOATLOAD of abuse for a LONG time and never complain.

W oW....12 years.... amazing

So much has changed since "back in the day" when not only the speeds & low et's of today were unthinkable, the availability of parts "just a far off dream" and not only the strength but also radical combinations of engine, induction & transmissions that can also be run on the "street" is beyond the "best wish" coming true. Is this a dream or what???

Sorry to hear about the engine but if there is any consolation in any of this to be found it appears you not only got your "money's worth" but you also maxed out the "fun meter"..... good luck with the new "build".

Gassers on the Street !!!!!

See .... I do KNOW what I'm "talking about".... or something like that !!!

Speaking of the "FUN METER" even though we are not going down the 1/4 mile anytime soon or doing much actual "building" we are still having fun collecting parts we need for our project .... so DJ, we'll be looking forward to seeing what you are going to offer for sale.
