Re: "The way it is" 67'swb

Baby steps right? Thinks finally slowed down some so been getting some stuff done. Almost have the front completed, just need to fix the marker pockets and one spot on the hood. Then onto the bed fixing the front floor. has about 6" x 1" of rust if i remember right? Really want to get her back on the road then work on it as I go, drive to completion.
How you doing over there?

Re: "The way it is" 67'swb

all good over here, 90 days or so left... Starting to plan a 3-season room at home, then I hopefully get a new garage, then complete the truck... that's the 3 year plan! Yours will be done by then so I can pay you to finish mine since you are better at welding than I am.

Re: "The way it is" 67'swb

The garage and all season room would be nice. As far as welding I am relearning my skills, been a few months since behind the mask. I will work on getting back to 100% till you get home so I don't warp and burn thru all your metal, ok

Re: "The way it is" 67'swb

your bad days at welding are better than my good days...

Just read an article on 5.3 LS engines (like my Tahoe)... next build will have one. Great power for cheap price. Now I need to find some old grandma selling her 6 cyl Chevelle

Nothing major but every little bit counts. Got the passenger side fender and grill area fixed aligned back up was boogered up from po hitting something. Next finish hood and light pockets then onto the bed. Really hoping to be able to drive her to truck carlisle this year but we will see.

Re: "The way it is" 67'swb

Decided to make my own fuel cell, using a known brands measurements. Have ordered all the bungs and sending unit and should be here weds. Still not sure whether to close old fill neck hole or not, really like the looks of it bur now would be the time?
Any ways had to change the right side of exhast to get tank in. Had to cut and move it outboard about a 1.5-2" past were it was. Just have to finish weld it now and will wait till bed is off again instead of standing on my head while using a mirror.

Re: "The way it is" 67'swb

Yes actual there is but, as always a but. Got everything ready for paint and was going to proceed but the rust on the frame has been bugging me so i taken the back half of frame apart and getting everything i can in the front as best as possible. Awhile back had mentioned the problem with the eastwood paint having rust bleeding thru and figured i would redo with por 15. Could not consciously move forward knowing what was under there. I know it is not a show truck but want it to last. Will add some pics once downloaded. Thanks for asking, mike.

Good work here! I stopped by to check out your clutch master install- thanks for the ideas. Did you ever sort out your off-center steering issue? My '70 does the exact same thing...

Thanks, the master cylinder clutch set up works perfect. If you take your time and measure right(which I know you will) you can hit the support on the firewall to drill thru for strength and hit the clutch pedal perfect to attach the rod too it.
As far as off center steering the po had not shimmed the power steering box correctly and had also used a different year(wrong year) drag link with some bad engineering to get some year tie rods pulled in the drag link? I replaced all when I ordered my ece lowering kit. Hopefully that helps, is that what you were referring to as far as off center steering?

Yes, exactly what I meant. I assumed it was a drag-link issue with mine as well. Will likely just replace everything since it needs it. Thanks for the info!

If you need a drag link i have another if you are interested, it is painted and ready to go. I think it is the later one you would need but would have to take some measurement before telling it would work. Or give me the measurements of the one you need. You can have it for free just shipping cause i have no need for it, not even sure how i aquired it cause the original that was on mine the po actually tack welded on of the nuts and stud of the tie rod end. That was quite a shock and some what a good laugh.

Doing good, been super busy with life. Have not gotten to much done on the truck, just some small things. Cleaned out the drip rail sealer and redid that this winter, was not happy with the way it turned out the first time. Will add some pics once i get them transferred.

Re: "The way it is" 67'swb

Been awhile since I have updated any progress. Have gotten everything painted, together and lined up. Still have to paint and work on the tailgate. Rear window installed have to do Windshield and working on rebuilding and powder coating the wing windows now. Have some blasting on the bumper brackets to do and not sure whether to leave bumpers chrome or see what they would look like black? Any thoughts? Also will be coating the wheels black some day too. Would have liked to have had it done by fall but won't complain cause just fun stuff I like to do from here on out. Wiring, some final welding and exhaust adjustments/alignment once bumper on.
