Re: tuba trucks
Hi Clem, missed coming down with Brian and Dave to deliver the '63. I also kind of miss seeing it out my office window for the last year or more...glad it's going to be getting some new life. I should be able to get those guys together for a ride down to the toy drive. Leevon

Re: tuba trucks
Greetings Clem
As always everything is looking mighty nice a Tuba Trucks. That green on the 50 is close to what my 62 was when new. Not sure if it is the exact same shade but looks very close form here. Warming up out in my shop so things are real slow on the 62. I've done some knick knack things on the vette and on the jeep but very little on truck. Always good to see your updates.

Re: tuba trucks
Not a lot to add Clem, but really great to see you back on here, despite life keeping you occupied.
Look forward to a closer inspection in September.

Re: tuba trucks
A big thanks goes out to all my forum buds for their support and feedback.
This is the time of year that is very important to my wife Kim and me, it's our annual Toy Drive. Each year we sponsor a Toys for Tots event to provide a Merry Christmas gift for children that would not otherwise receive one. The main attraction is a car & truck show as well as a cookout and gathering of like minded folks enjoying what there is to experience. Any of you truck folks that have followed the builds of Tuba Trucks and wish to aid in this cause, please drive your truck over to the show and join us in this event. The date this year is October 20th and all I can absolutely promise is a great meal and a warm feeling in your heart. We hope to see you here. |

Re: tuba trucks
Just Do It !!! You will never regret it. Those Fayetteville people, or to broaden it, Arkansans, will always make you feel like family. Heck, if they were able to welcome Martin and I in 2015 from England, and then this year myself and Craig, both originally from South Africa, imagine how good you would feel joining this very worthy cause. PS. I am sure Clem would happily receive toys, gifts contributions by courier, mail, on foot, or tossed over the fence too..... It’s all for the kids.

Re: tuba trucks
Last entry......
Christmas last year. Thought I would post this here for those interested Right......... Associated Charity time. On our 2019 Road Trip Dennis, Craig and I will be visiting Clem and Kim Johnson in Fayetteville Arkansas again this year. Trip reporting thread will be here: http://forum.retro-rides.org/thread/...ennis-reloaded Unfortunately we are traveling too early by a month this year. I have mode two of these amazing charity events in the past. HOWEVER..... I would still like to appeal to anyone who has the financial ability or inclination, to support Clem’s attempt to support for the Toys for Tots campaign in Fayetteville where he has yearly shindig with food, trucks and music at the Tuba Trucks workshop www.tubatrucks.com Clem arranges and Sponsors a large part of it himself. Toy Drive is described by Wikipedia as: Toys for Tots is a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve which distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. The program was founded in 1947 by reservist Major Bill Hendricks. More info here. https://www.toysfortots.org/ So if you feel compelled to contribute a toy or support to the drive please contact Clem via Tuba Trucks website and email or call to establish how you can help. Poster lifted from FB. I do hope that those who can attend and bring a toy in October will do so and get to meet some amazing people in the deal.

Re: tuba trucks
Mighty fine looking trucks coming out of your shop. They are in better shape now than when they were new.

About this time last year a 65 custom shortbed showed up and we began the process of making the owners dream truck. Static drop, disc brakes, stroker motor, 5-speed tremac, original color with a complete frame up, nut and bolt rebuild. The pics show where we are now with bed coming soon... |

Re: tuba trucks
Another current project in the shop is this 58 Cameo. It's been here for a few years but the time had come to get it underway. When we got it it already had a 1964 327 motor and a 4-speed hydro automatic. After the tear down we sent the frame out to the powder coaters and rebuilt the 327 to a 300 horse Corvette motor. The hydro was a lost cause since the rebuild was very costly and parts were next to impossible to find so we opted for a 700R. We also changed the rear end to a 65 12 bolt to get posi and more gear ratio options.
