Re: project (sweet pea)

Sorry for the delay guys....Yesterday was a very busy day, and with the lack of sleep. i just did not have it in me to get this updated....

So here goes...Got to the shop at around 6am....Got the heat on and both booths cleaned and wiped down...New Filters in and we was on our way..Booths was set at 80 degrees and we are good
Pushed Sweet Pea over to the prep area and blew out every seem, crack cranny and then did a cleaning with some Alcohol/Water mix....She sure was dirty. Got the cab in the booth around 9am. taped her up and then went to tackle the bed...
Same process in that booth as said above..And the same cleaning process of the bed as well

The bed was taped and ready to go around 9:45...

On to the final prep....The cab was de greased with some Wax and grease remover (7010) from Speis. same as the bed...This process was done 3 times on all parts....
(while wearing latex gloves)...A very close inspection was done on both the cab and the bed....Looking for ANY pin holes...Scratches....ANY imperfections that we knew would show...(Water un like solvent will show the smallest sand scratches )..There was a few pin holes on the driver side door....Mainly around where i shaved the lock cylinder,Which in all honest was MY fault...But all in all it looked great....

So a good wipe down was done with a tack cloth...And it was sealer time....

Same process for the bed....we found one pinhole around the top left rear of the gate...Again Probably my fault. And on a side note....A quick and easy way to find pinholes is with wax and grease remover....Wet the panel down. and while wiping look for small dark holes...LOL they are pinholes....) just a tip....Its alot better and faster than just a visual inspection alone.....Ok back on track..Filled the pinholes and the bed was sealed..

( My camera s batteries was dead so i had to run to the store to get more....I did not get any sealed pictures, But EVERYTHING was sealed...Its a must with water...)

Ok so it was sealed and allowed to dry for roughly 10 mins..Tacked again
Then the first coat of base was on (this is just a light coat).. That coat was allowed to dry for about 20 mins...Tacked again,And the last coat went on..With water basically a coat and a half is all thats needed....The 2nd coat is allowed about 10 mins and then its ready for clear..
Clear...both the cab and bed was tacked for the final time..This step must be perfect (well unless you want a dirty paint job). A light coat was done. allowed to dry for about 10 mins .after that the 2nd coat is ready...10 mins of drying and finally the third coat...
We did three coats of clear just for the (what if factor) normally 2 coats are fine or 2.5 coats....This being having such a high metallic and pearl factor,If anything was in the clear we wanted to have more than enough material for wet sanding, as far as sanding through goes...The booth was set a 130 for 30 mins and allowed to dry in the booth over night....So really it was not baked so to speak....I tried to go in to detail about the paint process...For most this this is stuff that is already known...But for others that do not know what it takes ...This is just a glimpse of the process.....Sorry for the ramblings for those that know.....Just trying to help out a little....Alright enough of the talk onto the pictures......

Edit i think i got everything. But if anyone see anything i missed...let me know
