Yea I am putting the orignal mirrow back on. When I say orignal I mean the one that has the three holes in the door. I think they are orignal.

Well today I wire wheeled the door and tomorrow I will sand blast and prime it. The lines seem to be ok but I will have my brother-in-law fine tune the body work for me. But, I am real close.

Today, I did a ton of work. At least I think I did.
1 sand blasted the drivers door and primed it 2 sand blasted the step for the bed and it had two holes on the side I welded up and bondo and primed it also 3 sand blasted the drivers side bed side and primed it also Now I have two doors that is ready for fine tuning on the body work. |

Nice progress, you are getting there fast, at this rate it wont be long before you are driving that beast.
It might be an optical illusion but it looks like there is two pretty good size dents in the top rail of that bedside, you might want to take a look at an angle and see if you can see anything, hopefully there is no dents. Last edited by Xeen; 02-28-2013 at 10:54 PM. |

No I just have the cab setting on the 72 frame. As a work table. I have it on line in the parts section for sale as a rolling chassis and other parts also.

thanks a lot and as far as the dentist goes it will be monday but what the hey only time and a lot of pain. Just like my litter project patches. That is what I call her. I put patches here and patches there and patches on top of patches.

Picked up a few parts today. Front calpers and rear wheel cly. and calpers paint. red. I think they turned out real nice. next I get the front pads and the rear shoes. I sent the rear drums out to be turned today. I will pick them up tomorrow. They were new when I bought the 72 frame so I just turned them. 8.00 per drum verses 56.00 new.
Also while I was there I looked at some new brake lines. they are made out of. Nickle and copper and iron. They look like bronze. He took the brake line and almost tied it in a knot. and it did not kink and it straighten out like normal and it don't need a bending tool. No rust either. Has anyone seen these line before. I will post a picture of them tomorrow. I am going to look up them on line. The lines come in a roll and you have to flair them to you size or length you want. Tomorrow we are going to have the coldest temp here in florida since 1983 in the teens. So no work on patches now till it warms up. |

Picked up the rear drums from the machine shop.One was bent. So off to the bone yard or the auto parts place for another one. I will weigh the price difference

Just buy a new one because it will cost about the same as if you bought a used one then had it turned.

I Went to my neighbor's bone yard today. Found a good brake drum for a 5 lug wheel and had it turned. It only cost me 20.00 total. It looks brand new after I sand blasted and painted them. I sand blasted both rotors and brake drums and vent doors and step for the stepside bed today. I primed the vent doors and painted the drums. I don't like the color of the drums, but it will do untill I get satin black. Silver is all I had on hand. At least it want rust over night here in Florida.

Tomorrow, I am planing on finshing up the rockers. I have put it off long enough. Maybe Wednesday I will mount both doors. Get it ready for my Brother-In-Law to do his magic on the fine tuning on the body work.
I also installed the new seal on the pinion shaft in the rear end. Had to replace the 72yoke with a 68 yoke. I had on hand. This way I did not have to redo my u-joint bolts. It works for me no cost, but a seal which I was planing on replaceing anyway. |

New drums aren't $59 where I live, you need to go to O'reillys or NAPA, I think I got 2 for $60 so call around and ask for the OEM equivillent replacement part.

Man looking fantastic my friend. You have been busy. I understand the budget thing all too well. Thankfully I've had a little extra $$ lately for a few things, but its come down to many times to where I just didn't have squat for the truck and had to just work with what I did have...time and no money. Parts that COULD be cleaned up and made to work just fine, got just that. Time is free and wire brushes and paint I seem to always have. :-) Keep the pics and progress coming I'm enjoying your thread and it's inspirational!

Thanks. We don't have but one parts place near me. Advance Auto and that is their price 59.36. I live too far from any big name parts houses. I 1/2 hours from Tampa and ocala

Re-painted the drums and rotors today. Flat black 2000 degrees paint. I also painted the crow vent doors orange. That is going to me my color for the truck. I also cleaned up the brake parts and painted them Blue, red and black. I alo painted the inter grills top and bottom. It fits on the inter grill.
I got side tracked today. I wanted t mount the doors on the cab, but I started working on the rotors and drums and it just turned out this way. Maybe tomorrow. |
