Restoring OEM Seatbelts

What process to you do to change color, cleaning products , what paint do you use.etc., or have you gone over this in a previous post. I,ve had fairly good luck on my blazer painting door panels and seat belt buckles but would be nice to know what a pro uses.

To change colors of the webbing, they have to get new webbing. I will not use dye to change color of the webbing, it looks like crap. Some people may do it that way, but I won’t.

When I do the belts, I do all that stuff before they are sent for new webbing. It’s certainly a lot easier and less chance of getting something on the new webbing.

Just finished up this set of 77 Red.
These were a bit rough, so I picked out a better set that I had and completely stripped these down for through cleaning & freshening up the color. Received New Emblems. They were also sent off for New Webbing.

Here is a set of 1987 Mahogany belts. These were throughly cleaned & restored, and freshened with color. The webbing appeared that have bleached spots, so the decision was made to send them for New Webbing. The webbing color is slightly lighter than the OEM color, but this is the closest match. They also received better used Emblems & Buckle covers.

These were cleaned & restored for someone. Color is Mandarin Orange, 1977-1978. Not quite finished yet, but mostly. Just waiting on more supplies to finish them.
These were throughly cleaned, rust removal and freshened with the correct color. One of the retractor housing has a crack that is being repaired. One of the buckle sleeves was replaced with a good tan part, and then dyed to match. Buckles received new emblems.

Here’s a set of 79-80 Camel Tan belts that I cleaned and restored for someone.

These were in pretty bad shape, so I replaced a lot of the belts. They had the wrong center lap belt, so that was replaced also.
Then everything was cleaned, rust removal and freshened with Color.
New GM Emblems were used also.

Finally got a couple sets of belts done for people that have been on the waiting list for several months now. Both are the 1973-1975 2pt. Lap Belts.
1st set is the 1973-74 Pearl Gray
Both sets were throughly cleaned, rust removal and freshened with the correct color. Buckles were disassembled for cleaning and received new GM Emblems.

These were cleaned and restored for someone. Still just trying to get these smaller jobs done and back to their trucks. The weather turned crappy here in Ohio. One day it’s 70 and the next day it snows🤦*♀️. So I took some time and worked on this set. They needed a bit more work. Both the buckle covers were broken and needed replace. And both retractors were not even working. Found that they were both broken, so I found some working springs and swapped those out. Now they both extend & retract again! Everything was thoroughly cleaned and freshened with color. All the chrome had rust removal. And New Emblems were installed.
