Re: LS swappers, post up your pics!!
Rich, as far as I know, the engine has had no complaints with this set-up. I suppose you could create some sort of elbow from the intake side of the air box to the radiator support for a "cold air" effect, if you wanted/needed to, but for my everyday driving, things are just fine. There seem to be no breathing restrictions with the box butted against the fender, and the holes provided by the factory stampings
It just occurred to me that your set-up came from an Izusu (?), so I don't know how your filter box is created. Mine is from the Tahoe, from which the engine came, and the side that butts against the fender has openings for inlet air. Is yours the same? |

Looks like were running the same rack anemic pinion. Where did you get your power steering lines?

Re: LS swappers, post up your pics!!
I had the pressure side line made locally at a hydraulic hose supply house. The return line I just used what was existing (truck had ps when I bought it).

Re: LS swappers, post up your pics!!
I grabbed an air cleaner box from a pickup..So I have the same exact setup as you. It seems to take in close to ambient temp air as long as you are moving.

Thank you. I used Speed Engineering Shorties. Wish they had the V clamps when I ordered them. But still fit fine.

Re: LS swappers, post up your pics!!
When you painted that cover did you have to use any flex additives like on plastic bumpers or does it hold up will sprayed regular?

Re: LS swappers, post up your pics!!

Re: LS swappers, post up your pics!!
Work in progress... a very slow work in progress but I'm going to get there.
I've got a 1950 Chevy 5-window Short box with a mustang II front end. I finally have my engine in but I'll need to take it out one more time to clearance the frame for exhaust. Its got a 5.3L engine rebuilt by me, f body oil pan (truck pan didn't have the ground clearance I needed), LS6 intake, 2008 corvette waterpump (no bell pulley for clearance), C5 corvette coils, fuel rail covers, power steering pump, Holley accessory drive bracket, and Hooker exhaust manifolds. I have a painted LS6 intake to use and some custom fuel rail covers for the final thing but those will be finished and put on later.
