Thanks man, I'm trying to get as much as possible done this fall before it gets too cold to do anything. I want to have it on the road this spring.

On a different note I finally got my paint, I'll show you guys some pics and info on it tomorrow. I'm planning on getting the firewall painted in less than a week

your front end is looking good . I cant wait to see the color your painting your truck ..
I used rustoleum semi gloss black on my buddies frame off 65 C-10 rebuild that im doing for him.
I just painted his cab last week 2000 S-10 indigo blue base clear .
and I did the whole interior with semi gloss black rustoleum .
now I have to do the doors for it next.

Thanks Jim, this'll just be a regular old single stage as its not going to be a show truck.

So here it is, my friend that is an industrial painter ordered it for me as this paint isn't available to the public. It's cloverdales industrial speed enamel that was custom mixed to match the original glenwood green that still remained on the covered part of the gas filler. He has painted many trucks with this and had amazing results, really tough stuff.

And today I finished up my power steering plate, copied the captains design on this except for moving the top rear hole further down, without it moved down it was lining up above the frame rail.

Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside

Hey everyone, I've been busy with end of the semester exams for the past two weeks, and I just wrote the last one yesterday. So the progress continued again today. 60-62 trucks had two different styles of clutch return spring for some reason. Mine had this style, which interfered with the clutch master cylinder linkage.

Hey Nik. I like the paint color. You really are making great progress and you fabricate most of it yourself. I'm impressed

Hey Nik, beauty colour! That is really going to make the truck come together. Man I have been woundering what the heck I'm going to do for paint, not to impressed about the paint off the shelve here in Canada. What did a can of that colour mixed run you? Maybe you could ask your bubby if he would be able to get it in that Neptune green?

Maybe that's a sign that you need to paint crustine this colour lol

Thanks Dale, I thought the original colour really suited the truck. I'm trying to learn to do everything myself not just to save money but also to become a more skillful builder.

Thanks Anthony, it was $47 per gal. unfortunately my buddy is moving this week to the kootney's which is 3 hours away so I don't think I'll be seeing him in person anytime soon and he has to order it through his work, plus it might be difficult to get the paint from me to you. However you can actually buy pretty good paint at Napa for a little bit more money, the Ppg/ditzler colour code for 503 glenwood green is 42977. I'm sure you could get Neptune as well.

So today I got the mounting pads/brackets cut off the rear end and then welded them on in the correct location for 60-62

Nice progress on the truck! This is the paint I had before I did my makeover. I loved the look and got a bunch of complements on the paint. They even have your color just in satin. I think it's $1999 a kit. I sprayed it in my garage. Just giving you another option.

Thanks John, that paint does look nice however the paint I got was much cheaper, for 2 gallons of paint, two quarts of hardener and more than enough reducer it was about $220

Oh I know, I'll be driving it everywhere and it's going to get scratched, so the beauty is that it will be single stage so I could easily repaint a single panel for next to nothing and have it looking like brand new again!

Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside

I got the rear end completely cleaned up and then I sprayed it with some rustoleum, turned out good enough considering its going to be under the truck. Today I spent a few hours on the firewall and it is pretty much ready to be sprayed, I should get it sprayed in the next few days depending on the weather.

Thanks for tuning in Doug, it does look much more presentable, I could've made it look nicer but I didn't want to go overboard since I'm going to be taking the truck on lots of dirt roads.

Today is another beautiful day, looks like the firewall is going to get some paint after school today!
