Hey Kim:

I don't like the angle cuts on the front fenders and sliding the whole front end forward to eliminate that causes a slight problem. I guess I could utilize the hydraulics for it though. Years ago I saw a early 50s chevy wagon that was done that way and it worked pretty good but there was a lot of engineering in it. Kim |

Re: My 57 Pro Street
I was thinking about it but have never seen one that was done good. In fact, I have not seen that many.

Kim: Your fab skills are second to none. I saw that you've used weld on nuts and it gave me an idea on how to improve my upper control arm mounting. I just ordered a couple of packs from motorsportsunlimited312. Your truck is lookin' good. Any updates to show us?

Our son is 11 years old. We adopted him when he was 6 after being his legal guardians from about the age of 1.
I would love a lift. Unfortunately my garage has bedrooms above it so it isn't high enough. Kim |

Re: My 57 Pro Street
What a great age for your son! A lot going on at that age! Is he interested in your workings in the garage? Does he like tinkering?
As for lifts~ I was fortunate when I bought my lift~ it was 1800, now they've gone up a bit, but when I spend thousands here and thousands there on my projects, the cost for my little lift doesn's sound so bad. My garage ceiling is 7'11". Of course my Apache can't go very high. I guess my body just doesn't do well with a car only off the floor 15"s or so. I didn't have my lift until AFTER I was finished with my stang! lol I thought I was finished with car restorations! But I keep having to put the stang on the lift for odds n end servicing. I keep coming back to your build, You're so talented! ; )

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Right now I'm trying to find a reasonable price on getting the frame blasted.
Now that I'm close to painting it I'm having trouble deciding on a color. Decisions decisions. Kim |

Re: My 57 Pro Street
I bought my own ten gal. about five years ago and put a big hd deadman on it. The blasters works great and I use it more than I expected I would. I'm running it off the 120 gal compressor in my garage. Most often use glass bead. Makes a mess, but I bought a couple of 12X36 tarps that I hang when I use it in the garage. I will use it on my frame when the time comes.

Re: My 57 Pro Street
In my city the blasters want 400.00 to blast two fenders and two bed sides. I dont think so.How ever I did find a large powerdcoat and blast frame for 500 to 600.00.Kim your project is going along well.good luck with the blasters.

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Thanks for the info guys. I don't have the compressor to run a blaster so I'll just have to bite the bullet and pay the price.

Re: My 57 Pro Street
It will be a lot cleaner for you. By the way, a cabinet blaster is fantastic for small parts. I use it all the time, especially after fabing a part.

Question? I did not blast my frame and I was able to clean it up nicely with just good old fashion elbow grease. Is that not an option for you? |

Nothing is wrong with blasting the frame I actually would have like to done it myself but I have more patience than money.lol So I invested in some wire wheels, strip disk, and phosphoric acid and went to work. If you are powder coating the frame that's different and that's what I meant by if its not an option. You mightiest well have the powder coater blast the frame before powder coating, but if you are going to paint the frame I'd save the money and put it somewhere else. Another reason I asked if it was an option for Kim is because I remember him telling me he had a bad back or something. But if he builds that rotisserie out of two engine stands like I did he does not have to worry about his back. The rotisserie is great for cleaning and painting.
