Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
SU still dont have them 7.50 luggers quite ready yet-bummer, really want some for this truck...
a little box work stopped at SIL's house, her printer is MUCH better than my hunk 'o' c...... check out the clarity, gauges, radio, heater for the '60 |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
thanks Dale!
been real busy at the new job, lots of out of town work, makes for long days.... and stupid me, happened to mention to buddy on my model site i was building a stock looking '60. well, the nerds on that site actually write in to ask how many turns on a ford ttb coil (huh ???, like who would sit there & count them & go that's not accurate.....) so i been making more alterations to the frame to make it more "accurate". harder building them stock than modified..lol tubular motor mount, divorced t-case crossmember, added some more crossmembers & started the spring hangers also made a cab to box mounting brace to keep them nice & flush |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
got some "accurate" axles, d44 & h033... made some springs but have'nt bent them yet, really hoping SU gets them seven-five luggers happening, could use the other ones , but they just dont give it that "look"
and i think your right Dieselburb, the step is nicer, more basic truckness |

Glad the job is working out. I'm digging the truck, it's looking great! I prefer the rear step too.

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
Im glad i could offer up that idea! My dads 60 was a base model that an Arizona school district had purchased new, then he became the third owner. I wish he still had that truck today, was a fun truck to cruise in.

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
getting closer Dale! was hoping to lay some paint this weekend, but boss asked us to work today (sat) so that kinda slowed things right down (loving the awesome hrs & money though )
well there was some damage from the dented box that i never noticed, & of course, highly visible.... the grille was all dented & bent, so i tried to cut it open & straiten them-fail, then i cut out the center & re-barred it with some 025 rod int is mostly there. like how the '60 dash has a lip around the gauges, cut a piece of "glass" & slid it in there dee-vorced t-case |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
seems weird not having a v8 in there....
had planned on finishing the bodywork today....not going to glue these tires on for now. the guy who casts them seven-fives just finished moving, so he's hoping to get them back on track quickly. and the mirror was also broke. stuffed the broke piece in the hole & made a new mirror that i think looks better mounted further back than the stocker |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
thanks Dale!
i know what you mean, the new job is giving me mega-hrs, cut-off day today & i have 78 hrs plus 18 hrs OT. some of the best money i've made all year! now i can afford to pay stupid prices for my model junk again, but would'nt you know it, our postal service is going on strike friday... not much time lately to work on the stepper, but got a few things done. did'nt like the single stock mirror, so i made a set also made a bumper mount spare tire carrier got the glass & body balanced on the frame just to check everything. still need to clear the body and i don't have taillites...have to see if i got something or make something |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
thanks Dale!
it IS harder doing "stock"... and my photo skills suck! could'nt figure out why the stepper color kept coming out the way it did (wrong!) wife changed some color/light thingy switch whatever on the camera(doh!)....and here is a more accurate pic of the real color.... well this postal thing bites, cant order no junk..so for now i'll make do with what i have. what i really need are just some decent tires, got most of everything else. time for re-hash, remember this.... haha! check it out now, body in the dot 3 & everything else in the purple pond... |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
i'm going to combine it with this stepper i got last yr, into (what else!) a crewcab. i want to put it on 49" iroks, but for now it will get the spare desert dawgs from the Deserter truck.... mail...
while the monster truck is soaking, i cut the back of the stepper cab off (need to do something...) no mail, cant order, no decent bench seats left, so i ground the rear seat out of the '70 impala tub, it will become the rear seat when the int goes together |

At least you're staying busy. I still love the color, the blue is very period correct.

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
thanks Dale!
more the work thing keeping me busy right now, working out of town all summer, 12-13 hr days...but the pay is worth it while waiting for the body to come out of the stripper, fixed the hood. it has a real deep relief cut to chop out a hole in the hood. last OBS i did, the relief cuts kept ghosting threw the paint on me found this scoop in the parts box (have no idea what it's from...) flipped it around, filled it and a little bit of finesse... ...and should'nt have any ghosting problems now.. |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
after 3 days in the stripper, the body was starting to look good. got the basic cab together. since both trucks were regular cabs, there was not enough roof without a gap, so i had to add a half inch of 030 to close up the roof. and this one is NOT going to be stock need to do something big & bad
this was plan "B", 37" dawgs-just not bad enough.... our posties are back at the bargining table, still delivering, so i took a chance last nite on plan "A" and ordered some 49" iroks for it. i hope they make it here and not end up in never ever land... i scaled the height roughly, somewhere around here....yeah, that should do it... and i found these old firebird buckets that sort of match the rear, made some headrests to try make them look more alike...just waiting for the other int to come out of the stripper, then build a crew tub |

this crew has been S-L-O-W! been rippin' off some serious hrs at work, no time after work, as well as being all tired out... check out the hrs on my last pay, has been steady like this for the last 2 months-not complaining though, loving the money.. have managed to get a little more done. started some res. shocks, tie rod, and making some anti-wrap bars frame is mostly fixed, notice i got my 49" IROKS |
