Re: 72 K30 Build
Hey Rick some wise man once said “You funny! ”
It is getting really, really close we might! Thanks Ryan. Insert the Tool Man grunt right here; Ugh, Ugh, Ugh! And the fun begins! Here’s a first shot while getting at a pattern. That’s every single inner pinion shim in the kit and the pinion baffle.

Re: 72 K30 Build
Still working it, the pattern was too low yesterday, too high today. As a buddy of mine always likes to say "Stupid Cars!" Got tired of looking at it so I took a minute and chased it with the wire wheel.
Our bucket seat covers showed up yesterday, they look pretty nice! These covers and the new foam all ordered from forum vendor Truckseats (Tim) means we have all the stuff now to build the seats.

Those covers look nice ,cant wait to see them on . I have been thinking about selling the BuddyBuckets out of my 1 ton to give me some play money to work on my truck ,hard decision to make.

Re: 72 K30 Build
Buddy buckets are really desirable that is a tough call flashed.
So here is the final assembled gear pattern, pretty happy with that. Final backlash and preload are a little tight but I think they will wear in well.

Re: 72 K30 Build
Thanks Mike, slow but sure!
Didn’t get much done on the truck Friday or this last weekend but the diff is painted and the lower cups and races are installed. Also we did get our seats dropped off at an upholstery shop. Mrs. 7dee2 had other plans for me as our weather this weekend was great!

Re: 72 K30 Build
Here’s some pics from last week, got the front diff mounted and touched up, the right side U-bolt was way long so it’s cut down.

Re: 72 K30 Build
Hey Brett, are you using some form of tread locker on those U-bolts?? I was visiting the friend I sold my K30 swap to last week and ALL of the rear U-bolts were loose! I couldn't believe it, they were TIGHT when I put it together!

Re: 72 K30 Build
Thanks for the compliment Jim. I'd think some thread locker should do the trick would love to see the upgrades and new door logo's.
The hubs are installed and they work as expected, man this axle is wide and heavy!

Re: 72 K30 Build
I've found they don't roll very well without the wheels and tires ... dust shields get in the way
Nice work!

Thank you Mike! Not much to show lately, keep getting sidetracked, the weather has been great and I got my honey dues you know. One of the projects a DIY patio we poured a year and half ago has turned out to be a fail. Concrete is really brittle and flaking bad even after the sealer topcoats we had put down so I’m hoping practice makes perfect?

Re: 72 K30 Build
Thanks Ryan, I’m sure it won’t be that pretty after its first winter!
Quote:
Here are a couple of pics from last week’s project, the dogs are not happy but my old blue C30 is always ready for the next job! Back to the build, I’ve been stewing on what tire to run for the last month or so. Finally found a killer price so I ordered a set of these Discoverer A/T3’s last Monday. http://us.coopertire.com/Tires/Light...ERER-A-T3.aspx OK since you twisted my arm, I’ll share the killer price info http://www.ebay.com/itm/310901803021 with the $100 discount ordering 6 it came down to $121 a tire. Cooper is running a spring promo on this same tire until 4/15 that’s another $70 Visa rebate. If it works out as planned that’s just under $110 per tire! Price gets even better if you were buying 4 instead of 6.

Re: 72 K30 Build
Hey Brett chassis is looking good... Too bad about the concrete work. Removing it is a lot of work. Time away from the truck. lol! Those tires will look good on there. If I didn't have a car to build after I get these trucks done I would do a 4x4 with 3/4 or 1 ton running gear. it looks beefy!!! Keep up the almost daily updates it keeps me motivated!
