Doug, tell Cindy I will be praying for her, that her surgeon can take care of the problem. Best to you both...Jim

Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
Guys,
Thank you all so much for the positive words, thoughts and prayers! God is good! I enjoyed the article too! Recovery is going well so far. Glad I have the Ipad and hospital wireless to keep up with the builds. They are a great stress reliever for me. If I can't be in my shop I enjoy visiting yours. Suburban building question...and I haven't searched yet...has anyone seen good info on rebuilding the upper tail gate hinges. Mine need attention and I saw NOS ones on Facebook for $350. Thinking too pricey? |

Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
Your right AD. I lost a younger brother at the age of 21 and that changed my outlook on life from then on. Family means so much more now. Money isn't everything. I gave up career opportunities to be closer to family. Like you said, don't wait, life's too short to put dreams off.

Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
Thank you so much Marc. Cindy is better each day and I pray that continues. She is awesome and wait until you see what she can do with wiring and brake lines.
Sid, wow sorry for your loss. Very difficult even if years ago. I made career decisions that hurt career advancement as well and this allowed us to be near family down on our little farm. We have never regretted it. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us. Thinking we need a picture here to perk things up. I am cautiously joyful and very thankful! Thanks for all the prayers and positive words guys. |

Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
Looking forward to getting to this point on mine. This Burb was recently owned by 48Chevybagged. It was for sale in Panama City Beach a few years ago and I almost bought it. Wish I would have as we were only a couple grand apart.
If I finished my Burb in bare steel am I copying? Don't know that I will as current plan is to run our 48 as is paint and body wise. Thoughts? |

Doug, just my $.03 worth (inflation) while the all steel look is great, I think your "as is" paint would be the way I would go...Jim

Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
I agree, I would use your paint and add some character where needed if you do sheet metal repairs. I like the maroon color. You don't see many in that color. That was also the original color I had planned to paint my 48 truck.
Oh and it would not be coping. He was not the first to go all metal and if you went this route you would not be the last. Marc

Jim and Marc, thanks for your advice guys. I will stay the course with existing paint and likely won't see another one like it.

...this one will be something...purple from the 1970's, Air Force blue from 1948, some surface rust and some green on the fenders. Thanks for helping keep my head on straight lower50's!
