Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

I took the bed apart so I can get the cross sills blasted and some other parts. The bumper brackets, inner fender brace and hood latch, and grill top bar.
I started getting the fuel lines ready to test fit. I am also going to swap rear ends.

I got a dash pad in from Tim. Its not fastened down yet.
I'm going to buy a new head gate for the bed. It has some rust that I'm not happy about so I'll sell this one in the parts section.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

Are you just changing out the gears or swapping out the whole rear.
Dash pad looks good.
How did that little block even get into the garage

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

I'm swapping out the whole rear. The gears look better in the one I'm putting in. I'm gonna have to do the brakes on either one so no biggie. I just have to make the other one look this good. I think a guy in Murfreesboro wants the one thats in it now. I'm letting a couple good looking spider gears go with it.

I think the ants carried the block in. I killed about a thousand a little while ago. I sprayed some Maxx killer but I think I'll call my exterminator anyway. I wish I could train them to block sand.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

I dropped off some stuff at the powder coater ( Professional Powder Coaters)http://www.professionalpowdercoating.net/aboutus.htm

Rob does fantastic work! He has done some vintage bikes for me in the past. I'll use no one else!

I should have the parts back soon but I'm not in a hurry as you all know. LOL. I know this build is moving slow but thats the way it is.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

I got my parts from Rob (the powder coater)He blasted my bed cross sills, splash pans for the bed, inner fender support that goes on the drivers side, front bumper brackets, grill top bar, door panels just where the light surface rust was, and hood latch. The parts look great! I do have to repair a couple spots on my rear bed sill. The good thing is these parts have no rust on them anywhere.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

Thanks. they turned out nice. I need to get them painted and primed soon though. Might be busy this weekend so I'll have to do stuff during the week if I get anything done. I painted the splash shields but I think I'll wet sand them and paint them again. Just to get some good coverage. I rattle canned them. I'll post a pic when done.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

Chuck I just spent the last hour and a half reading through your entire build thread. After seeing your truck in person I wanted to know more about your build. You truly have done an amazing job!!

Guys this is a top notch restore in progress! And Chuck is one heck of a great guy!

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

lol I know the feeling. I worked on mine today, found out my springs have been heated. I replaced the fronts with some that have been cut but it sits even now at 31 inches from the ground to the fender well. My back springs are all jacked up, the left sits at 34 and the right sits at 31 and a half. I need to buy some rear springs.
