Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**

I have an '82 C10 short, and I am on the line of buying the chrome or grays. I plan on running 20x8.5 up front and 20x10 in the rear. Sorry for stealing pics, just want to know people's opinions on which they think look best. Oh I almost forgot I plan on painting the truck black so this is why I'm up in the air on which will look best, and whether the chrome is worth the extra.

My tires are already here. (Haven't picked 'em up yet, but had a message from Discount Tire on my voicemail when I got home.) Any update on the chrome 20s, Sublvr72?

Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**

just a quick update took the truck for a ride and even with alignment off rides a lot better than before. it also sat down more

with 275 45 20 and 295 45 20 and front just djm spindles and rear hotchkis leafs with djm lifting shackles it sits at 31.25 in front and rear 32 inches from ground to fenderlip which is perfect. Ill have my dad drive it about 1000 miles so the rear leafs settle down but with the rear hotchkis leafs/djm lifting shackles/edelbrock shocks/belltech rear swaybar truck rides great

I should have the front grill on the truck tomm
pics for now
this pic is right after it came of the jackstands

now here are others after i finally drove on it

Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**

They are 18" all the way around. 18X8 in the front and 18X9.5 in the rear. I wanted to keep the 5 1/4 backspace so I went with the 18. I am still fighting the front a bit with the plastic cap so for now I have left them off. Sublvr when the new rev 3 comes out for the 18's can you send me a PM so I can get a set for the fronts. I plan on keeping the old rev for a spare that I will mount on a offroad style stand in the bed.

Heymoe, What mods did you make? Spacer or grind the hub?
What size tires you going to get?

You ahve the same set up that I want. I am debating wether to get the
-2AA or waint for the -3AA version.

Otherwise looking sweeeeet!

I had them machined down to fit the hub of the wheel. I didn't cost me anything because of good friends that own a machine shop hooked me up.
I am still fighting the whole cap issue like in the original post but I will figure something out. Is anyone running a different style cap that maybe a little deeper so I do not have to run a spacer?

Anyhow the tires I am going with are the new BFG G force KDW T/A.
285-40-18 in rear and 245-40-18 in front.
The overall diameter is only 1" different from front to rear so it worked out for the look I want. I wanted a 295 but there is not one available in this style.

Thanks for the comments! I am very pleased with how the chassis is coming together. I still need to finish up a few things and install a shock relocator kit from Nathan at Porterbuilt so it will lay flat on the front crossmember when I air it down.

Are you looking at the new tread pattern or old tread pattern? Because I'm getting the new tread pattern G-forces and they offer 295's. I am going to run 245-40-18 in front and 295-35-18 in rear.

According to the vendors and website you can get a 295 but it is a 295-35-18 which is an 1" shorter in overall diameter at 26" instead of the 27" with the 285-40-18. I figured a 10mil difference is not even a 1/2" so I went with more sidewall vs smaller sidewall

Ok, I like to keep about the same side wall front back, that's why I'm running the 295-35, because it's only about a half inch taller than the 245-40.

295/35-18: 4.06" sidewall, 26.13" diameter

285/40-18: 4.49" sidewall, 26.98" diameter

245/40-18: 3.86" sidewall, 25.72" diameter

In my opinion (and it's just a matter of personal taste) I would have gone with the 295/35 since the sidewall and diameter are both similar (closer, anyway) to the 245/40, whereas the 285/40 is 1.26" taller overall with a 0.63" taller sidewall -- the 285/40 doesn't look as matched, but again that's just IMHO. It'll look good regardless of the tires.

yes it's going to look good no matter what, they do offer a 245-45 that is 26.8" diameter. I'm telling you how to build your truck just making suggestions.
