Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Placed the bed on the newly fabricated mounts and it fits very well. Mounted the wheels on a spare suburban rear axle to mock it up. Frame is sky high in the front, but I think this will be my rear ride height. The wheels look great and are the perfect width on the newer axle. Last picture shows what the tire does at full dump. This gives me 3 inches of suspension travel. Since I can raise the pressure for a heavy load, I don't need any rake to compensate for a load. I think 3 inches of travel is enough, anyone have any insight on this?

Hey Drew, that looks great! How did it go with the engine/tranny pull? You about ready to set it in the frame?

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
That looks great! (especially dumped )
Although I think you'll want/need more than 3" of travel....maybe post that question in the suspension forum. Most bags have 9-10" of useable stroke...so why are you ending up with 3"? Final thing is you'll want to ask around for a good PSI for your planned ride height. If that is fully inflated, I don't think you'd like the ride at all..... Also, keep in mind the rear height will change somewhat once you bring down the front end also as the frame rotates down....

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Not a whole lot to report tonight, but I did get the front down to see what the front and rear ride height look like.
FYI- when you cut your springs watch out for the big BANG when you are almost through. Sounded like a gunshot, (I ducked). Pretty tough looking I think.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Looks good. Are you going to run the Shockwave airbag on the front?

No, I am going for maximum comfort which means maximum air volume. Just a normal 8 inch Firestone double and a soft shock.

Seriously, that is a really nice looking shop. My wife and I have been kicking around the idea of building a detached garage, but most of the ones we have seen have vinyl siding and are just big enough to store one car and some camping supplies. I really like the look and size of your shop! Did you build it? Do you have any other details about it you can share (square footage)?

Yes I am a custom home builder, see Drewrenshaw.com. I drew it myself and wanted the bungalow look, eventually I will remake our house to match. It is 28 by 36 with an 800 sq foot apartment upstairs to house missionary families when they come home from overseas; places like Africa, India, China. When missionaries sell everything and go to do the Lord's work, we feel like we should support them by providing housing when they return on furlough or vacation. Our family gets to learn about different cultures and the difficulties of being on the mission field as well as the joys. It is our desire to go serve ourselves, but until we are able to we do this instead.
