Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)

Figured out my choke isnt working right....It stays barely open. Never disengages..and runs my idle high .I think the electronic choke might be broke. I manually opened it up and the car died lol. Turned up the idle screw and it was fine. BLAH!!!!!!!! Damn you choke It was a great day for a short drive though

I hope all my VMF thread's will return when they're done screwing with the site?

Make sure the ground is good. You're supposed to be able to snap the throttle a time or two to disengage it.

I hope we don’t have to wait for every registered member to swear that they hate Vipers.

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)

I'm shocked people have already made 7 pages worth of threads. There was only about 8 threads last night.

I'm actually surprised they did "Viper". I would have done Camaro to really piss people off. I mean, if you're going to do it, do it right!

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)

Ok and back to work.

Rebuilt my short shifter as welding a bolt didnt work. This time, I grinded it down, hit it with heat, and used a 4 way lug wrench and a lug nut to make threads.

Then i got to work on the console front. Sanded the sides and added bondo. Then sanded some more.

I then test fit it and marked where i wanted to cut excess off the sides. I also drilled some holes to connect to the miata console. Still trying to decide what i want to do on the front of it.

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)

Drove the stang to boxing this morning and it was idling high as always. Got home and choke was still closed. So like 67chevyredneck said i checked the ground. It was ground to the valve cover and looked gunked up. So I cut it off and attached it back to the screw on the carb where I always seen them attached. So far its idling how it should and the choke is open. So ill check it again when its cold.

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)

On another episode of "WTF THE PO DID" I discover that the choke isnt working because it is not hooked up to a 12v supply. The PO ran the wire over to the solenoid. While running it didnt even come close to 12v. Last time I checked the choke plate needs a 12v supply when turned on and when off it shouldnt have any. BLAH! Ill fix that soon....That explains a little of why it doesnt work...Hopefully

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)

OMFG I hate whoever ****ed this car up so bad!! The sorry sumbia mutha of all that is wrong in this world. Today i decided to take the fenders off. I need to start looking at the suspension, replacing the springs at the least. Well the drivers side fender came off fairly easy and then i got my drivers door lined up better. All was going good. Then.....i find the front top fender bolt has just a nut on it. Then i find the front section that holds the valance from fender to fender has a self tapping bolt in it and the top was shaved almost smooth and then and FU**in then i find what i thought was just some bondo in the gap on the bottom near the rocker panel is a freaking WELD! Not only did it make me mad but i ended up messing up the door paint while cutting it out... I hate the PO or PO to the PO or who ever da **** did this

UGH!!!
So on another note the side is dented in a bit on the drivers side right below to cowl but not too bad. Surprisingly everything is solid looking other then the passenger side about 8" of frame rail right below the battery and well battery tray area. Its prepped and now i need to get some cutting blades so i can shop the side of the cowl off and try a patch

I did drive it this morning before disassembly

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)

Installed a new choke cap and it seems to be working a lot better but its kinda weird. It opens up but not much until i turn it off and then back on. I may adjust it counter clockwise some more and try that but im only 2 notches from center. Ill get it figured out also ordered a accelerator return bracket for the spring and adjust the rod a little more. Once its open it idles pretty good

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)

And now i am a bit pissed...Cut the side of the cowl today and was working and i got the new cowl fitted in...But there is no effing way i can weld the inside edge of get it fit snug....Its just far back and there is not enough room. I would have to replace the whole cowl....So now i just dunno what to do....

I could weld it back together with part of the cowl welded in so it doesnt rattle and then just weld **** the sides so nothing can leak in through the fender gaps but i just dont know. I dont have the skill to do the cowl and it is way more then i can afford to have done. My understanding is its $2k easy to have done...

So i dunno...Im a bit pissy....If i weld the sides it would at least be leak free with a cowl cover

Is there any way you could use some bonding cement that is used in shops on newer cars ?

Its possible but the problem is i cant hold the inside together. Nothing to clamp it down and so on...I did managed to cut it up some more and get it in better. Its in and welded but its just spot welds along the sides and on the back corners mostly. I was able to get a few on the back but not directly behind the cowl hood. It was tricky as hell to do but i still have to get all the seams sealed some how...Not sure how i am going to get that done behind it other then maybe sloshing a can around the circled or maybe using a baster to shoot it in there...
