Re: Dumptruck Dolly
Here I’m mocking up the bumper…hopefully tonight I’ll dream up some custom mounting brackets. Pay no attention to that nice cab under that green tarp…another project conjuring in my mind.

Re: Dumptruck Dolly
That looks like a Warn winch bumper.

Re: Dumptruck Dolly
Yes it is…I have a Warn winch (early original) on my ‘68 chevy car hauler and is STRONG…I have a new winch that’ll hopefully fit without mods for this truck. Last edited by fishnixon; 10-01-2022 at 06:13 PM. |

Re: Dumptruck Dolly
Solid 5/16” angle iron. 27” long and I cut it in half. I have about a dozen more of these and have been waiting to use them up. I put them on so that the rear of the blue bracket was up against the front leaf spring shackle, and moved it a “smidge” away from it.

Re: Dumptruck Dolly
There it is!
It will be coming off and on again a few times for corner reinforcement at the bumper edges, as well as upgrading the hardware. Looking at the spot where the winch goes, I’ll have to widen some support brackets to fit the winch, which is wider than the original Warn winch. Oh, I had to remove the turn signal lights from the bumper so I could set the bumper “deeper”. As I’m looking at it in the pics, perhaps the front of the bumper should be raised…hmmm Last edited by fishnixon; 10-02-2022 at 08:54 PM. |

Re: Dumptruck Dolly
Here’s the new winch…about 21” wide. If for some reason I can’t make it work on the bumper, I’ll use it on the equipment trailer.

Re: Dumptruck Dolly
Here's how I mounted my bumper. I raised it up and back

Re: Dumptruck Dolly
A busy Saturday…before working on Dolly, I used my ‘72 C50 to haul a couple loads of gravel for a friend in Ely. The truck did very well!

Re: Dumptruck Dolly
The headers just aren’t going to work…the leaf shackle doesn’t allow for the collector to sit flush. I know these headers are 2WD application, but I thought I’d give it a try since I paid $600 for them about 18-20 years ago. Also, they hang too low for my bagged C10 SWB that’s on the rack waiting it’s turn…

Re: Dumptruck Dolly
To the rescue are these “factory style” rams horn manifolds…they’ll do the trick. I had to use a file to true up the surfaces for the head…they needed the work.
I wasn’t able to put the downpipes on yet, but hopefully tomorrow. |

Re: Dumptruck Dolly
Those look good! Did you powder coat or ceramic coat?

Re: Dumptruck Dolly
Came from a major parts store already with ceramic coating. I didn’t want to paint them and have everything peel off after 200 miles, even if it was a heat paint or otherwise…I thought I’d give these a shot.

Re: Dumptruck Dolly
An update…a window repair on the driver’s side done because of the spring leaving it’s location, causing it to bind up. Spare window parts came in handy for the switch.

Re: Dumptruck Dolly
The brass float had a pinhole in it, causing it to fill up, thus keeping the gauge reading empty…having an extra brass float from when I had the six cylinder in the truck, made for a quick fix.
