I am a Journeyman Mechanic and I still love to have as many books on whatever I'm working on ,as I can find .

These days I tend to buy new Shop Manuals so I can scribble notes , tips and comments in the margins....

Take the time to find an owner's manual and an illustrated parts manual too , they'll be ever so helpful after a thing has been apart a while waiting for parts or the time to get back to it.... .

Sent a message to "TRUCK SEATS" to get a quote on new foam and cover for my 1971. (Foam is pricey!!!)

! be aware that most of the foam buns Auto Upholstery places sell , are way too soft ! .

The good stuff is dead black and fairly cheap if you shop around at regular Uhpholstery Supply Houses .

Tom hooked me up with a terrific place in West Los Angeles that wanted 1/2 the price the Valley guys did , new my new seat is nice and firm so I don't get tired when driving all day , soft foam only feels good for 1/2 hour then it begins to beat you up pretty badly .

Well last night I put gauge bulbs in and painted my heater box, today I didn't do anything but just sit in the seat pretending to drive it.

I remember those days. I got my truck just before turning 16, and drove it up and down the driveway until my birthday/license acquisition. Problem is, we lived in the burbs, so the driveway was only 3 car lengths long or so.

My truck came with a steel floor with a spray-in lining. I like steel floors. But I get hooked on stuff on this Forum. Also, I have to admit to looking at some fake how-to shows when
they are barking around about our trucks. And the lining on the bed was looking a little stained (first picture).

It's Dangerous for a guy like me to be looking at some of the fine trucks on this site. I already have twice in the truck what it would be worth to someone else (after I cack, of course).
But look, I do.

The beautiful wood floors on another thread in the Forum "made" me buy some extra cherrywood flooring when my Boss (wife) put new floors down in the house a few months ago
(second pic). I know, I know warning! warning! warning! Warp, water, sun, Not made for that. Scratch, Junk!, etc., etc. etc.

Hey! I don't have money. But I have the wood. I have a table saw. I have a nice jig saw.

I started out by deciding I was going to make a frame like the big-dollar deal Stacy What's-His-Name pretended not to sell with the kit that goes for $1,600, or whatever.

But I have enough wood to do this twice. And, since I have water removal trenches (like all metal floors do), a spray in lining, and plenty of time....I'm just gonna put the floor in,
let it "float" on the floor and hold it down at the front and rear of the bed with some tasteful aluminum angle,... and try it out.

I carry only light weight stuff like garden materials, a garbage can from time-to-time, and some furniture that is more important not to scratch than the new floor. I may put aluminum
strips in as sliders if I see the need. And I'll probably still run the tonneau most of the time... Keeps honest people honest.

But, with the rehab of the lining with this Dupli-Color stuff (third, fourth and fifth pics), and a couple of strips of aluminum and some screws, and because I already have the wood,
I'll have about $40 in the wood floor.

Let 'er warp. Bed dents be damned!

It's called "the right stuff" detailing. Website is getdiscbrakes.com. Very nice and a great price. Even had the stock brackets with the correct cadmium plating too

My '69 C/10 was originally a three speed and they simply torched off the clutch pedal near the under dash pivot .

I've looked at factory automatic equipped trucks and the support is the same , clutch pedal swing bushing is there and resady to be used so you can simply delete the pedal when converting to automatic .

even though its correct i always thought the small brake pedal looked strange on a auto truck the later wider pedals look much better jmo.


cleaned and blasted and painted two bells over the weekend not sure witch i'll be useing yet so i figured i'll do them both that way there ready
I used the dupi color engine paint for the orange and i must say i dont like it.
it seemed really thin and didnt cover very well almost transparent like even with mutiple light coats i usually used the 500-1500 degree paints for hot stuff I wish i would've used it on this stuff but the tv shows allways rave about the duplicolor and its what the store i went too had so i figured i would try it. i've use other duplicolor products(like the previous post) before and allways liked it either way i'm not gonna go through the work again too change it so i'll have too make a mental note on certain paint for the future

Trying to sand and polish an alternator. Not going quite as planned. Thinking it may get painted black and get polished hardware. I know I can just buy one already done. It's not that I'm cheap, the project fund has just about ran out for now.

Did this a while back but thought some of you may like it.
I added a 6 terminal fuse panel to the inside of the truck for new electric stuff. Simple install to. Hot wire from unfused terminal on orignal fuse block to the screw at the top of this one then just run wire to the part that needs it.

Yes it is a lot better than what I had before. Now I know what is what.
I'm thinking about buying a bigger one though for 12 fuses. Mounting it under the hood.
