Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
The last time I was in one of these contest I was truly out classed. But this one? Just like I said Prom King. Lol
I thought it would be neat if I could I could have won but it is what it is. The award I am most proud of is the Best Engineered Award I got last year in Topeka. The Tech Inspectors picked the truck over 700 plus race cars. I was really floored when I got that. The second would be the Best Appearing I got in St Louis last year. Or the four page write up in National Dragster last year. Sorry guys if I sound like a sore looser. But you can't win stuff like that from the Parking Lot. Ha ha Man where are my manners. Thank you to everyone that voted for the truck.

Regan, Could you post some pics of how you did pedals? I'm cutting out and replacing my firewall and was looking for ideas of how I might want to do mine. Thanks

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
Nothing new to update. I missed our first race in Belle Rose, La because the old Dodge was too sick to go. After more or less rebuilding the fuel system and getting rid of my 60hp injectors it's running good. I pulled my 26ft enclosed trailer with it yesterday. It feels like it's up to the task now. I hit 60mph from a stop uphill in about an 1/8th mile pulling that trailer. It should do better pulling the 48 footer now. Our next race is in Baytown, Tx next weekend. If the Corona Virus doesn't screw that up. They did cancel the Pros at the Gatornationals last weekend.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
Well unfortunately I was right. They canceled our race due to the Corona Virus. I’ll just be trying to kill it with Budweiser. Damn I want to race.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
My plans exactly! Already been called out by one of the local kids with a police Charger! The good news is with the stock market crash, the price of race fuel is going down making a street hit or two a real possibility!

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
I bit the bullet and renewed my PhotoBucket. they came down on the price but only by half. It was still a ripoff but I wasn't going to let my thread die.

Yes Greg I don't know if I'll let them keep jacking it up on me. Last year they came down to $24 before the time was up.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
I just read through my own thread out of boredom. I don't know whether to think I'm stupid or use it for inspiration. LOL. I haven't really worked in a month because of the Covid 19. I depend on Bars and Restaurants for my business so I haven't had much to do. As of now I have missed the first race of the year. They have a revised schedule that supposedly will start up May 15th in San Antonio. If everything cranks back up around that time I won't have time to go because of work obligations. I'm kinda leaning towards a 5 race season at this point. I would like to run the truck wide open again but I need a track with more shutdown than the track we ran at last year. I guess we'll have to see how it all plays out. The truck is ready to go anyways.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
Regan,
You should think about coming up to the Friday night event for C10's in the Park in September. It is being held at Texas Motorplex. Only 100 tech cards will be available, but I think that you could run an all out pass for the full 1/4 mile there. I know that currently there are not any passes available for the Saturday event in Waxahachie, but there seem to always be some available the closer you get to the event date. https://c10sinthepark.com/

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
If I wasn't in enough trouble I had a friend of mine skip school a day or two later. I went up to the barn and got in the truck. Went and picked him up and we road the back roads for awhile. I dropped him off and headed back home. I topped the hill close to the house and saw my Dad pulling in from the other direction. He had been home and I wasn't there. He got in one of our old farm trucks to go see if I might be out at the Cattle Ranch where I live now.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
I didn't know what i was going to do so i rolled up our long driveway and put the truck back under the barn. I didn't see him so I was trying to hide behind the house. I heard him calling me so I finally went to face the music. I had to hold onto the side of this trailer while I received the last butt whoopin he gave me. This is the old trailer I used to pull with an old 70-72 GMC 5500 with a 4speed and a 2speed rear end. At 13 years old. You city boys don't know what you missed. The trailer was still white then it's a 76 model.

Regan,
I think many of us have the itch. Heck, I haven't run my truck since Nov. 2016.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
Well it looks like I am finally going to go racing. Heading to Tulsa Oklahoma next Thursday. I missed the first race of the year because my clutch was too weak in my old Dodge. It also wasn't running right. Two clutches later it has a dual disc in it now. We put injectors in it and it started making oil. Pulled those back out and sent them to the shop. I finally got it back together last Friday. I think I'm becoming a decent Cummins mechanic at this point. Tulsa has been nothing but bad luck for me over the years. Hoping to change that this time.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
Thanks guys. I'm looking forward to it. The plan right now is to run only five races instead of eight. That is unless going to Bowling Green becomes an option. I've never been there.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
Well Guys I'm sorry for no response. I went to Tulsa the truck seemed to be running well considering the weather conditions. It was hot as Hell but that's the way it goes. I messed it up first round but it was a good thing I just didn't know it yet. I had been seeing a little metallic and magnetic granules of metal on my oil filter screen. Come to find out it was eating inner valve springs. I had to wait a week for a piece for my valve spring tool. When I pulled the #2 intake spring the inner spring ( triple spring ) it was broken in four pieces. Then I started looking at the valve. It was getting chewed up on the stem. So I had to pull the motor and pull the heads. Then I took them to Slick Rick's for a tune up.
I got the motor back together and thrashed to get it in and get the truck running. We went to one of the oldest tracks around to test last weekend to test. I made a couple hits but couldn't get down the track. I'm loaded and ready to go to Extreme Raceway Park (XRP) just south of Dallas Tx tomorrow. We're just going to do a little testing then the goal is Bowling Green Kentucky at the end of the month.
