Re: Crash's 72 K10
Removed and painted the radiator. Not sure why I did not paint it before I installed it the first time. I used a wire brush and sand paper to remove all of the loose paint and to prep the radiator for the paint.
I also cleaned up the fans and flipped them over since I had them upside down originally. I also had to modify the mounting system. I also installed my rear speaker brackets.. I need to pick up a set of speakers and get the holes drilled before I primer them.

I probably missed it somewhere but mind sharing what you scavenged the fans out of?

Re: Crash's 72 K10
Crash, I may have missed it, but I have to ask how did you apply the POR15 on the frame? Is this just a brush on application? Or did you spray it with a gun?

Re: Crash's 72 K10
I applied it with a brush.. It turned out really nice except for the areas I got carried away.. There are a few runs.

Re: Crash's 72 K10
Where are the pix of the new paint???
Oh never mind - I was thinking of Bryan's truck. I did get to check out your cab that you dropped off at Kyles's. It's going to be nice to see that come together.

Re: Crash's 72 K10
Update – Painted a bunch of small stuff…
Got my rear speakers.. Drilled and test mounted in the rear speaker brackets. After that I started to install the new inline tube brake lines.. I think they sent a 2wd set… Sunday my oldest son and his family came over and help me load up the cab so that I can take it to the painter…. It was a great feeling… First time the cab has left the shop in almost a year…

Re: Crash's 72 K10
I don't see how those lines would work on a 2wd. I've had nothing but great success with Inline Tube products. Strange...

Re: Crash's 72 K10
I don't see how they can fit on a four wheel drive.. maybe they don't even fit a truck...

Re: Crash's 72 K10
Nice build!! Thanks for all the info. I am doing a 72 4x4 and have a question.
I also did an LS conversion and am probably going to get the same tank you did from Boyd. I plan on feeding it from the side inlet however. Is there enough clearance under the bed and at the top of the tank to feed it from the side? I have had a stock gas door fabbed into the drivers rear bed and want to route from that location. Thanks in advance for any info you may have. Truck is looking great BTW. Chris

Chris, If I understand your question correctly, there is room to route the filler hose over the frame rail - under the bed to the outside of the frame. Does that help?

Re: Crash's 72 K10
Replaced the 3” lift blocks on the rear to 2” lift blocks.
Out with the old/new brake lines and in with the new Stainless brake lines. The drivers side front brake line did not want to work with the PF engine cross member.. Nothing a real big drill bit couldn’t handle. Installed the Pacific Fabrication cross member.. Then I swing the engine into place.. Not bad for a few hours of work.. Tomorrow finish up the engine install.. Watch some football.. Drink some beer..

Very clean brake lines Mark. You make that stuff look too easy in the pictures. Btw, you get entirely too much time off work!

Re: Crash's 72 K10
Finished up the engine and transmission install today. Everything is bolted up and ready to go.
Modified the Fan Mounting one last time. Modified lower hose, the previous setup rubbed the inner fender. Also changed up the upper hose, installed a hose adapter that allows for the stream vent hose. It also has an air vent and sight glass. Finally got the parking park stuff installed.. Never did find the correct intermediate cable. I build a couple of cable extenders.. And finally I bent up new transmission lines. The previous ones had a couple of problems the top line hit the cab at the transmission end and the bottom line hit the radiator hose at the radiator end. Hopefully the new ones will fix both issues. I forgot to take pictures, I will tomorrow. Heard from Kyle today, he said the cab was coming along.. He has spent a lot of time on it… I hope to go by tomorrow and have a look… I may hookup the wiring tomorrow so that I can start the engine…

Re: Crash's 72 K10
Thanks Mark! Yes, that did answer my question about the tank and clearance.
I was contemplating the stealth tank until I viewed the price then thought the regular tank would do just fine if there was enough room to feed a side fill under the bed but over the frame rail. Good luck on finishing her up! Looks like you're almost there. Chris
