Went to local glass shop got a new window cut to replace one i cracked. Came home put it all together works great, all new weather stripping put in chrome vent and window moulding (that window tape can get messy when you spray with wd40). And best of all no left over parts

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Well mine wasn't today but it was over the weekend. I just joined here, so bare with me till I figure out how to get my pics up off my iPhone ( any suggestions?!?!). I tore the front suspension out and sent my beam to nostalgia Sid in Oklahoma to stretch it 3" Yesterday my new bearings, shackles, and some other parts came in from classic parts of America. Love those guys, but dang their prices have jumped over the last few yrs!!

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Got my lights installed and wired up. Fussed with my grill for a while but bolt holes aren't lining up too well so stopped on that and installed my new sun visors. I'll get back to the grill later. Apparently the right side visor was optional and my truck had never had one. There was no hole for it but there was a dimple where you put the pilot drill for the hole cutter. I haven't really done anything to my truck for the last six months so it's nice to get back to it and see something being done.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Yes, stock. Got the brackets and visors here:
http://www.bowtiebits.com/store/stor...Category_ID=51 I didn't have any original to compare these to but I'm well pleased with the look and fit. The brackets look to be good quality, and much cheaper than I expected. Last edited by Russell Ashley; 03-23-2012 at 02:21 PM. |

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Got my new rear window, that huge box for a little window. Got the old one out, the edge is full of jagged weld spots, makes you wonder how many assembly line workers had sliced up wrists. Now I have to call LMC about returning the early window I ordered by mistake.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
I ordered a set of door panels today. I was upset to see the economy killed the compant rod doors, but a user on here told me someone had bought some of their molds - come to find out that is Chevys of the 40's.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Nuthin, but I did upload my first Youtube Video today of my Progress. Finally have my first Sunday off from work in about 6 months, so I'm planning on getting my shop straightened up and cleaned up so I can get back to working on the 51.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Doing whatever I can until I manage to scrounge up the $$ for new brake drums and all the front bearings... Today I evicted the mice from their winter home in the cab, pulled the rear bumper off for cleanup and re-paint and cleared out the bed to get a good look at the wood. Will hit the whole thing with a serious pressure wash, re-finish the wood and probably replace the retainer strips. Whadda ya think? This rank restoration amateur is always open to suggestions!

dear friends, thank you for your loyal support over the years. we just could not hold on long enough to get thru this rough stretch of road. We are out of business effective 11/04/2009. someone will purchase some of the molds and continue to produce a few of the many products that we use to make. Who that is and when they will be available is unknown even to us at this time. Even when you know your in the same boat as many others (without a paddle, a rudder, a sail or a bucket) it still is not any easier. http://www.roddoors.com/ |

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
I just finished installing my grill and bumper. Like yours, my bumper was as nice as I've ever seen. Mine is a Keystone brand, any chance that's what yours is?
I got my grill and bumper from GoodMark about two years ago and never unwrapped either one before a few days ago. Both look to be good quality but I had to enlarge or enlongate almost every hole to get the grill bolted up. It's always nice when re-pop parts actually fit and look good. |
