Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
Thanks for the kind words guys! Here's something I figured I'd share with you. I was striping some guitar stuff for Chip Foose a while back and took my truck since he hadn't seen it yet. When he was looking at the engine, he noticed the air cleaner wing nut wasn't quite right and I told him it pulled the threads out. He asked why I didn't put an insert in and I told him I didn't want it exploding in my hands while I did it. He proceded to take it off and said he was going to do it, I told him to watch his fingers. Here it is after he fixed it after he went out to put it on I asked if he squared up the air cleaner so it wouldn't leak. After explaining the goofyness of the cleaner design and how it will leak and telling him what I was going to do fix it (in my spare time lol) he grabbed it and said he wanted to fix it! Fine, but don't you have something, anything more important?... "Nope", OK then, have fun! Lol So he cut out an aluminum plate that filled in the the top area. and then he went out and installed it What a great guy!

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
OK I've ready your build before but I just saw the stuff about Chip Foose so now I just have to go back through the build again. It's always a good thing to do to get re-inspired.

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
I know this is a little off the truck deal, but I figured I'd show you guys a little of what I've been doing. It will give you an idea of what I'm building and how I'm going about it. Here's a pic of the chassis with the back tire mocked up (it's 24" tall) ans another with me standing by it at ride height (I'm 5' 10-11") and to show how the finished welding came out This is my first attempt at building something of this magnitude and I think it looks pretty cool so far! And for those who are into this stuff, YES I've worn out the rule book making sure I've covered EVERYTHING!

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
I striped up the guitar for an auction deal and then spent the rest of the day running around Orange County with him. I left and totally spaced getting pics!

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
Awesome that Foose would jump on it like that. Good to see after all the fame, he'll still jump in.
Thanks for the update on the car, I've been wondering how it was going, in between sessions heckling Alex from the cheap seats. Glad you're doing well and making progress. Looks like fun!

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
Love the stance of your truck.. I was wondering if you could give me some measurements from a few spots I could reference. Maybe from the ground to the top of the wheel openings or to the bottom edge of the running board front and rear. Also how does the height work out for you any issues with daily driving. Thanks for all the great tips and tricks you have shared.

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
Yo 33, thanks for the kind words! Here's a good profile shot, just so you can see the rake pretty well. Center height of front fender opening is 21" and rear is 20 1/4"! Tire size is 28" rear and front is around 23 1/2". As far as driving, the bumper is the only real issue (occasionally hit bottom of front fenders on speed bumps) as the bumper hangs out a ways. Makes driveways a bit of a challenge but hey, that's part of having a slammed truck. Everything I've ever built has been slammed and my deal is, if its not hitting somewhere it's not low enough!

Saw your truck at the Grand National Show on Saturday.
You must have been out and about as you weren't with it. Looking real nice. Kim |
