Re: 1969 C10 SWB - Big Block project

Chad has a '73 up crossmember in this one with a custom set of stands/mouts that lowered the motor 1" and moved it back 2" for handling & braking.

Hope that helps. And welcome to the board

Re: 1969 C10 SWB - Big Block project

I have had a rough couple of years, but thank you guys for hanging with me and understanding.

The truck leaves in the morning for paint !! I have my fleet bed on the trailer ready to roll out. Dad and I built a stand for it and I have been sanding around on the drivers side. It's in SPI Epoxy now.. but not for long.

1968 50th Anniversary Gold and White. Its really happening ..

Re: 1969 C10 SWB - Big Block project

Ordered all new CST trim this morning from Mar-K.

Thank you guys for all the kind words. I'm glad to be back hanging out with you guys again too. Right now I'm just evaluating what all we'll need to get it finished up. I'll post up body shop pictures as it progresses.

Re: 1969 C10 SWB - Big Block project

The trim arrived this morning and looks fantastic. My painter is working on the bed and tailgate first. I look for it to be ready in a couple weeks.

I should be by there tomorrow or Thurs, I'll take some pictures.

Re: 1969 C10 SWB - Big Block project

Dad and I stopped by yesterday and dropped off the trim. He has basically knocked the edp off the bed and paint off the tailgate and says he plans to work on those first. He just needed the trim to drill the holes for the clips before primer / paint. Not a whole lot to see yet..

I'm doing full trim on this truck and the cab never had the paint divider trim. I got the clips from Mar-K to add those little peg like things for the trim to connect.

This truck won't need a whole lot of body work, just panel alignment and paint. I hope to have it back by the first of the year. He said '5 or 6 weeks' initially but yall know how that goes. He's had it two weeks already.

Re: 1969 C10 SWB - Big Block project

any progress on the paint Chad. hope its going as planned.

why is it that when it comes to paint, that seems to be such a pain. one of my relatives dropped his 54 ford f100 off to get painted 12/26/14. the guy said he would be done in 10wks. he still has the truck.

Best of luck to you.

Re: 1969 C10 SWB - Big Block project

Progress - yes.. but no color yet. He is working on fitting the trim, drilling the trim holes and pins around the back of the cab and overall panel alignment. The truck had been primed a couple different times using SW and PPG products but he has taken it all the way back down and coming back up with Dupont Chroma base line products. His decision which I'm good with too.

He put the air dash in it for me and has been working on the inside of the cab a little. There are two cars ahead of mine. A 70's Nova and a 68 or 69 GTO.

Dad and I have been working on the bedwood, we're just cutting to length and fitting the grooves on the edges etc. It's about to start coming together. I hope to have it back by the first of the year.

Re: 1969 C10 SWB - Big Block project

awesome to hear.

in most cases that's what painters usually do if it had been primed previously. they like to take it all the way down so they ensure when it comes to painting that all the work was done by them and not guessing if the previous person prepped it right. logical reasoning. cant wait for pics.
