I love it question for all you sixers, I'm on the quest fir power steering brackets. Would 1974 250 from a nova be the same bracket? To me it looks the same but before I $$$ buy it I wanted to make sure.Attachment 1209097 Name: 00F0F_iWt4CAqMucK_600x450.jpeg

Post Re : Straight Six P.S. Brackets

@ Sambudo ;

Yes , those are the same P.S. brackets I'm using on my '60 C/10's power steering .

I assume you're going to buy the entire engine ? . they're not worth much and are handy to have , just throw away that nasty E.G.R. exhaust manifold and it'll run great .

VWNate is correct-the ones that won't work are from the integral head 250's.

Post Re : Intergal Head 250 I6's

Well you know , I saw one , once .

Seriously , I hate those things ~ by now pretty much all of them have the re designed replacement head that doesn't crack " just because " even though you NEVER got it hot.....

Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!

I think I've finally got my dual carb set up figured out:

This is at idle:

And this at full throttle:

Once I get my body back on, I'll figure out how to attach the throttle to the pedal and the TV cable for my 200r4. That's why I added that bottom piece to the rear carb bell crank, so it will pull the TV cable.

I also got a Space Saver Mini HEI from Langdon's:

But I need to find a coil wire. One that will go from the male coil terminals to the stock-type coil, similar to this:

Making progress!

Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!

original 250, added power steering, the pump brackets were a pain to find but soo worth the search and price. Added power brakes too, still need to clean up the wiring so new harness coming soon... not sure how many miles she has as the odometer shows 87k but it could be 187k or 287k but still runs strong and no issues...

Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!

I was at a flee market today and found a 6 cyl HEI in a box of other stuff, i passed on trying to buy it because i had no idea if it would have came out of a chevy, f*rd or Mopar.

Can anybody tell me from experience how i may have known? brand name or something else like drive gear size/count or something else? Thanks!

My 66's 292. 147K on it...48 years old completely stock internally...clifford intake and headers...600 cfm Edelbrock and HEI with 65K coil. Cold compression is 95 pounds in all cylinders. Not super fast, but good torque monster and fun little engine. Picture and video.

Post L6 HEI Identification

Find a used distributor from any 194/230/250/292 I6 and memorize what the drive shaft & gear look like , then you'll know when you find the next one .
Never , EVER ask a Swap Seller ' will this fit my XX ? ' as they'll almost always say " ! YES ! " just to sell whatever it is .

Yea i knew better than to ask, he would have said it worked fine and then i would have been stuck with it, i was tempted to ask him what it came out of but not tell him my needs, didn't do it.

I was hoping folks would chime in with some info and maybe some pic's too, Thanks for your reply!

There's some beautiful inline 6's here! I'm such a huge fan of the look of the I6, I just wish they weren't such heavy chunks of metal!
