Yeah that would give you the leverage but under the truck you don't have the room to swing it.

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
I had a few mins today so I messed around with some blue lock-out dials to see what a torch could do to the chalky white faded dials. I cleaned them up, ( with very fine sand paper ) sanded any areas that needed it, then using a hot torch I
very quickly passed the flame back & forth over the dial allowing the flame to touch the plastic only for a fraction of a second at a time, slowly melting the white chalky plastic back to blue ! There not perfect, but much better than before ! What do you think ?

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Hey Michael !
It helped distract me from what was going on, kept my mind busy, and kept me from sitting on the couch drinking my sorrows away. ( Well somewhat ... "LOL" ) So go get back at your truck and do something while you got the time ! Cheers, My Friend !!!!

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Thanks Chris !
But word of warning to anyone trying this method, ( I had a junk dial to practice on ) the flame cannot stop on the plastic or it will burn it ! A tiny tip works well for the recessed areas, but you need to kinda stab the flame into the corners very quickly ! Gary

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Man, this is great! Is that a factory paint code? My truck was originally 504 Medium Olive Green but the parts that haven't been painted over look a lot lighter to me than your truck? I'd love for my truck to be closer to that shade.

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Yes this is the 504 paint code, but I believe there was a couple different names for this color depending on the yr or possibly the mfg of the paint. Med olive poly & Yellow green poly.

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
I have to say this is a very nice truck. I have a 72 blazer that I want to do the same colors as yours and since it a blazer and I'm thinking of doing the upper moulding on it but not seeing a blazer with the uppers I was wondering what it cost to do that rendering on yours and how to get a hold of him if he does them for other people ...

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Thanks for the compliment Blake!
Chad is the guy doing the renderings, here's his email: cmcanning@live.ca You'll have to contact Chad on the cost because it all depends on what you have him do, how many different views, custom work and so on! You can also check out more of his work on this thread: His user name is Hellaflush3d http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ndering&page=2 Gary

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Hey Mike,
I've been gearing up, collecting more parts; new style push on door gaskets, NOS front bumper, NOS cargo light, working on a nice OEM steering wheel, just had a pair of axels turned for disc brakes, but time, haven't found any of that !!!! "LOL".... I'm finishing up with some interior house projects, gotta keep the fiancé happy , then it will be back to the truck. I really want to be driving it this summer. Love how your truck turned out !!! Looks awesome !!! Gary

After seeing that SWB K-10 sell for 39K- you & redbarons trucks should be north of 50K. Hope you can finish it this spring

Tigger; I'd like to think so... "LOL" Thanks !!!
Jim; Life goes on and there will always be other things that make it to the top of the priority list, but sooner or later the truck works it way back to the top !!! Even if I'm not working on it I still keep my eyes open for anything I need for it, and scope up what I can.
