Still working on the gas issue. My line is bent and I need to cut it and add a fuel filter. And I need thr ottle linkage parts. I have the 71 model stuff and I need the earlier yr stuff. The one with the rod so I don't have to cut any more holes in the firewall than I have to. I'm shooting for after thanksgiving to have her fully running. Wish me luck. Any tips suggestions being a freshly built motor? Procedures? Notes? C'MON!!!!

Congrats on getting it running! You need to follow the break in procedure recommended by the builder. Some of them want you to use break in oil and only go to certain rpms etc. Have you talked to the builder?

Re: My 68 swb build.

^ ^^ Excellent advice. Talk to the builder. Also use a zinc additive in your oil ESPECIALLY on break in so you won't have a flat cam.

Thanks guys. !! I'm hoping to have more done this week. All depends how work goes. I think im gonna finish the Windows in the doors next. The hook still hits the division bar. Gonna try to do it with the door on and just remove the hook so I dont have to realignment. Loli dropped my driveshaft off at napa to have them resize it once again. It should be right this time 56" center to center.

Re: My 68 swb build.

You should do a search on Lucus oil zinc additive then just search for a retailer in your area. HERE

Be careful about running synthetic oil in your engine too unless you have an additive.

Re: My 68 swb build.

I got Lucas brake in oil from my local carquest which came in a 1 quart bottle then I added Rotella oil which I believe is the only oil with zinc. My engine builder said I should run it about 500 miles then change the oil.

Re: My 68 swb build.

I got my zinc additive from O'Reilly. It comes in a clear bottle and it says ZINC on it in big red letters. The additive is clear. You should use it everytime you change your oil, which adds another ten bucks to your oil change but if it saves the cam it's worth it!
