Heres a bit more on getting the truck together for the big move....

Got the interior painted so that I can get the roll bar welded into place and not have to worry about getting paint behind it. So once its welded in, I can touch up the footprint areas and be done.







Then I started putting the front end all back together and getting that all ready to go. The body work is going to have a wait a little while, Im going to do a wrap on it anyway instead of paint I think, so its not that critical.

Thanks guys for checking in ! ----- Its coming along. Latest updates:

I got all the door hinges apart, 3 out of 4 came apart with ease and the 4th one had to be beaten to death, heated, brought to within an inch of its life with an arbor press to get the PIN out.... these things are TOUGH!!!

I blasted them all and will be just throwing some paint on them - then Ill rebuild them with new pins and bushing kits I got from Classic parts - $14 per set! cant beat that. Got all new bolt kits too to re-mount them.

I got my fuse box and CDI panel installed in the cab and all the wires out the front and the back. added all the missing wires needed for my 'custom build'... and then we put the bed onto the truck all assembled in one piece.... Those skinny tires look funny! ----

Got a quote for wheels from my tire/wheel guy this past week and it about made me retire the whole project. Almost $4000 all done and said for the CHEAP Wheels I wanted.... and WITH some sponsor money from them too!!!! NOT gonna happen!!!!!!

Spent the whole weekend just having this wheel thing eating at me. Thinking and trying to find some cheap steelies or something just to put on the truck... no luck anywhere on craigslist or ebay, racejunk all of them. Then I was talking to my drag racing buddy that lives around the block and telling him about the wheel issue I was having..... so he took me over to the corner of his shop where 4 boxes were stacked up covered with spider webs and dust.... He pulled them down and opened the lids....
A COMPLETE SET of Mickey Thompson HR-2 Wheels brand new in the boxes!!!! 18x15 rears and 18x6 fronts.



UNBELIEVABLE!!!! ---- I prayed and said THANK YOU LORD!!!!!!!!!!

Then I said how much ????? --- he said $1000 and they are mine -ENJOY!

Not the exact wheel I was counting on, but I guess the good Lord has "a little creative design ability" at his hand also!!!! I am thankful for the power of God providing thru others, and it never ceases to amaze me. TY!

Yours looks nice all molded in! - Mine is just the bottom valance filled in and the two fender bottoms to make a smooth surround. All metal though. I removed the turn signals at the same time. My signals are going to be in the headlights.

Exactly!!! thats what I thought, the fronts bolts right on - the backs are different lug pattern but I found a set of billet adapters that will make the change for me. IF that still doesnt work then the axles are coming out and I will re-drill them. But the backspace is perfect and everything else meets what I need.... and yes 'the deal' is what I really needed most...

1 step forward ---- 2 steps BACK! ARG!

Wheels fit great with the adapters but it pushes the wheel out 3/4" annn....nnd the tires hit the inner fenders.

The tires bulge on the rims 1.25" on the front and back sides, they are just TOOOOO BIG! Never thought I'd hear myself say that about tires!


So my choices are:
1. Use these tires - take the rear-end all apart again, re-drill the axles to the rim pattern - loses the 3/4" but is still gonna be tight.

2. Use these tires - take the rear-end completely apart and shorten it another 1.5" on either side and re-do everything; housing cut and weld, axles shorten, brake lines re-do, re-drill the axles too.

3. Get new tires that fit and leave it all alone as-is....

Ive seen guys build a rear fender spacer to get their clearance. Its all but invisible too.

I would think re-drilling the axels to the rims would be the least expensive way to go even if it does take some time.

I say if you want to run those tires, do what you need to to make them fit. But do it in a way you will be happy with. My dual rim tire combo are 18.5" wide per side.

These tires as they sit right now are 19" wide of tread. The full width including the bulge is 23". Its a 5" offset wheel - but I only have 17.5" of space between the hub face and the inner fender well... about a half too much.

Ya that is really wide. Now I have seen some Novas and such running that tire on the street, if you can get it to work it will look super wicked from behind. Tire Diff Tire

school me on this option.... is it body work intensive? or just adding something between the fender and bed panel?
